The Scion Group is the leader in student living and we’re seeking an experienced Manager, Total Rewards to join the People team in executing our shared vision. The ideal candidate is a proactive, strategic, hands-on self-starter who can collaborate effectively with stakeholders. Key responsibilities include administering benefit and retirement plans, managing open enrollment, assisting with annual merit and bonus process and payroll. The Manager, Total Rewards leads a team of two and reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer. This is a five day per week in-office opportunity.

Your Responsibilities

Employee Benefits

  • Oversee the development and administration of employee benefit programs (medical, dental, life insurance, vision, disability, HAS/FSA, 401k) ensuring they align with the organizational objectives and employee needs.
  • Partner with Scion’s Benefit Broker and Plan Providers to ensure efficient administration of benefit plans.
  • Lead the annual benefit open enrollment process, including renewals and employee communication.
  • Regularly conducts financial analysis of programs. Ensures adequate estimates, forecasts, and calculations of expenditures in benefits for budget planning and tracking.
  • Stays current on national trends to provide strategic recommendations for benefit plan designs to be current, competitive, and in compliance with governmental regulations related to benefit programs and labor law, including COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, and HIPAA.
  • Reports on changes in applicable laws and regulations and provides training and communication as needed.
  • Designated Plan Administrator for Scion’s 401(k) retirement plan, this position is tasked with the responsibility for timely remittance of 401(k) deferrals, annual and ongoing compliance governing laws, regulations and monitors plan operations as directed by the Plan Sponsor and supported by the provider’s service team.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for Total Rewards programs to HR Business Partners, understanding the needs of the business and acting as an advisor.
  • Assist with the administration of workers’ compensation claims.

Compensation & Tax Administration

  • Provides recommendations for compensation plan designs in alignment with Scion’s business objectives.
  • Partner with Talent Management leader on annual compensation cycles for corporate and field team members (two cycles).
  • Supervises the accurate processing and reporting of employee timecards, payroll, maintenance of payroll records, reporting and payment of tax withholdings and retirement withholdings.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations related to payroll, including regulations related to wages, salaries, fringe benefits, deductions, and disbursements of funds.
  • Ensures payroll and tax administration processes are current and efficient.
  • Oversees the accuracy of responses to payroll-related questions, investigations, and research to resolve payroll issues.
  • Effectively manages relationships with third parties to ensure that agreed upon service levels are met and any issues are promptly addressed.
  • Maintains current knowledge of payroll procedures and ensures compliance with tax laws.

System Management & Reporting

People Management

  • Manages the daily workflow of direct report/s and ensures accountability through constructive feedback and goal setting in accordance with company policy.
  • Provides support and coaching to the team to ensure the successful management and administration of Scion’s total rewards programs.
  • Outlines long-term growth objectives for the Total Rewards team alongside the individual development of direct report(s). This includes succession planning, performance evaluations, continued education opportunities, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience managing benefits design and administration (including retirement plans and long-term incentive plans) and compensation at a national scale.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive payroll experience including preparation, balancing, internal control and taxes across multitude of state and local regulations is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience with UKG preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA requirements.
  • Minimum of 2 years of people management experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills. Adept at translating complex information to varying audiences. Proven experience successfully influencing and successfully implementing programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Consistently operates with high integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Adapts to the needs of the organization and employees.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000-$130,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
