Scion is the leader in student living, and we’re seeking a Vice President, Capital Planning to join us in executing our vision.
The Vice President of Capital Projects leads a team of fourteen with three direct reports on the execution, planning, and governance of capital initiatives across Scion’s student housing portfolio. This role manages the Project Management Office (PMO) and Program Management Office (PgMO), oversees property-level due diligence, and ensures alignment between capital investments and long-term business goals. It plays a critical role in project-level compliance, risk tracking, and financial collaboration.

Your Responsibilities:
- Oversee all capital projects across the portfolio through leadership of the PMO, ensuring on-time and on-budget execution.
- Direct long-term capital planning (PgMO), including asset lifecycle analysis and integration with investment strategy.
- Manage all capital-related due diligence processes for new acquisitions, including consultant oversight and site inspections.
- Maintain oversight of capital project risk tracking and reporting; participate in cross-functional stakeholder updates.
- Ensure full compliance with governance procedures, including vendor bidding, contract execution, and capital approval protocols.
- Partner with FP&A and Asset Management on capital forecasting and alignment with operating budgets and liquidity plans.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in capital projects, construction, or infrastructure management.
- Proven expertise in leading PMO/PgMO functions within a real estate or operations context.
- Experience working in student housing or multifamily strongly preferred.
- Strong capabilities in vendor management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000-$250,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
