Job brief:

As a Senior Mobile Engineer, you will be a part of a dynamic team of engineers designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that meet our users’ needs. In this position, you will be responsible for creating custom and personalized UIs so that users can really own their weather experience. You will also play a role in contributing to the overall success of our projects by ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance in our applications. As a senior team member, you will be looked to to mentor and coach more junior engineers.

The impact you'll make:

  • Analyze and understand user-segmented data to help improve decision-making for users' needs
  • Create customized UIs to provide personalized experiences for users
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to define project requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to improve code quality and maintainability.
  • Drive technical excellence and best practices in software development, including coding standards, design patterns, testing methodologies, and CI/CD processes.
  • Architect and implement complex systems, considering factors such as performance, scalability, security, reusability and maintainability.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and advocate for their adoption within the team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and deliver business value.

What you've accomplished:

Must haves: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • At least 3 years of experience using Swift and/or Kotlin in a production environment
  • 5-8 years of overall hands-on experience in software development, with expertise in one or more programming languages and frameworks (especially Swift and/or Kotlin being a plus).
  • Significant experience implementing UI/UX via SwiftUI/Jetpack Compose
  • Experience in implementing analytics SDKs such as mParticle, Braze, Adobe Analytics
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience in leading technical projects, defining technical strategies, and making architectural decisions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and influence technical decisions.
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining large-scale mobile applications
  • Expert in using Apple's XCode and/or Android Studio
  • Strong experience in managing concurrency (ie. through Asynchronous programming and multi-threading)
  • Understanding of the built-in testing and benchmarking libraries

Nice to haves:

  • Significant experience with standard Apple/Google frameworks including SwiftUI, Android SDK, WebKit, JobScheduler, Combine, WorkManager and/or CoreLocation
  • Kotlin Multiplatform
  • Cross-platform mobile development (e.g., React Native, Flutter)
  • Expert understanding of Multi-threading (GCD, OperationQueue, etc), Codable, and StoreKit/Billing Library a plus
  • Expert understanding of common design patterns including MVVM, VIPER, MVP, etc
  • Experience with Webkit and other popular 3rd party libraries
  • Experience with SDUI patterns
  • Experience with WearOS, WatchOS, TVOS and WidgetKit a plus
  • Experience in using REST APIs from an iOS/Android app 
  • Experience in performance optimization, profiling, and tuning of software applications.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, tech communities, or speaking engagements at conferences.
