About the IT Team
The Internal Tools team is made up of 3 groups -- IT Infrastructure & Operations, Business Applications, and Technical Program Management & Procurement. Together, we deliver trusted, scalable, secure services and infrastructure to empower Thumbtack employees with the tools they need to get work done. We partner with the business and own our platform of internal tools throughout their lifecycle -- intake, prioritization, buy/build, implementation, support, and retirement.
About the role
The IT Endpoint Engineering team at Thumbtack builds a trusted, secure, and engaging technology experience for Thumbtackers. We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Endpoint Engineer to help harden and scale our client security and compliance practices, and manage our global Mac, ChromeOS, Windows, and Linux environment.
What you'll do
- Responsible for creating software packages, deployment, patch management, and encryption in our global Mac, ChromeOS, Windows, and Linux environment
- Work with the IT Support teams to identify pain points and issues in the environment and then implement solutions to increase productivity for IT staff and end users
- Ongoing work with the Information Security team to identify and mitigate risks and threats to our fleet, as well as keep us to up to date on security standards and practices
- Support & review technical documentation of ongoing processes
- Collaborate and work with cross-functional teams to drive automation and efficiency
- Oversee inventory, purchasing, asset management, relationships with vendors and 3rd party providers
- Participate in interviewing, training and mentoring team members while working cross-functionally to represent the team across all groups and organization levels
In order to be successful, you must bring
- 3-5 years experience working on in an IT organization managing and deploying Mac, ChromeOS, Windows, and Linux machines
- Proven track record and experience with enterprise management solutions for Mac (MDM, EDR, Platform SSO)
- Expert in macOS and iOS/Android
- Proven scripting skills to automate the pain away (shell, python or swift)
- Experience managing hundreds of Macs at a public company and an expert with the tools used
- Strong knowledge of desktop security (anti-virus/encryption/vpn/patching/2-factor authentication)
- Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills; ability to make thoughtful proposals, provide alternatives, perform root cause analysis and demonstrate results through testing & metrics
Expected salary ranges
- For candidates living in San Francisco / Bay Area, San Jose, New York City, or Seattle metros, the expected salary range for the role is currently $141,100 - $182,600.
- For candidates living in Austin, TX or Washington DC metros or in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, or Washington states, the expected salary range for the role is currently $127,000 - $164,300.
- For candidates living in all other US locations, the expected salary range for this role is currently $119,900 - $155,200.
Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
