About the Role
As an Employer Brand Manager, you’ll partner closely with the Director of Employee Communications to shape and execute Thumbtack’s employer brand strategy across external campaigns and internal storytelling. You’ll lead mid-to-large scale initiatives from concept through launch, turning our mission, strategy, and culture into compelling narratives and experiences for candidates and employees. In close collaboration with Recruiting, Employee Experience, Brand, Communications, and external partners, you’ll ensure consistent messaging and seamless execution across channels. With a high degree of autonomy, you’ll use data and stakeholder insight to measure impact, refine programs, and strengthen Thumbtack’s position as a virtual-first employer of choice.
What you'll do
- Own the day-to-day execution and optimization of key employer brand channels, including LinkedIn and Glassdoor, using a data-driven approach to manage a recruitment marketing content calendar that brings Thumbtack’s mission, culture, and business priorities to life while driving measurable growth in engagement, reach, and brand perception.
- Design and scale an employee advocacy program that empowers employees to authentically share Thumbtack’s story—providing toolkits, content, training, and measurement frameworks to amplify reach, deepen credibility, and strengthen talent attraction.
- Develop data-informed campaigns and storytelling initiatives that increase brand awareness, strengthen talent attraction, and improve key recruiting metrics.
- Partner with Recruiting to enable stronger candidate experiences through compelling pitch materials, messaging frameworks, job description templates, candidate communications, and advocacy-driven touchpoints throughout the hiring journey.
- Lead award submissions and third-party recognition programs to grow Thumbtack’s “best place to work” reputation and industry visibility.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Brand, Communications, Employee Experience, and external partners to ensure cohesive messaging, clear governance, and seamless execution across initiatives—including employee advocacy enablement.
- Track performance across channels and advocacy programs, analyze results, and translate insights into recommendations that continuously optimize employer brand investments and impact.
In order to be successful, you must bring
- The ability to translate Thumbtack’s business strategy, talent priorities, and culture into compelling employer brand narratives that resonate across channels and stakeholders.
- Strong ownership of end-to-end programs, managing multiple mid-to-large scale initiatives simultaneously while maintaining quality, timelines, and proactive stakeholder alignment across cross-functional partners.
- A strategic and data-informed mindset, using performance metrics and market insights to refine messaging, optimize channel execution, and improve talent outcomes.
- Persuasive communication skills that distill complex ideas into clear, audience-specific content and effectively influence cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders.
- Confidence in navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities, proactively identifying solutions, aligning stakeholders, and driving momentum without waiting for direction.
