Commercial Roofing Estimator

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator to support bidding, pricing, and preconstruction efforts across a diverse portfolio of commercial roofing projects. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates while collaborating closely with sales, operations, vendors, and subcontractors. Familiarity with the California construction market and strong estimating discipline are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial roofing projects, including:
• Labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead
• Review plans, specifications, addenda, and scopes of work to identify risks and opportunities
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analyses using estimating software
• Utilize Edge Estimating software to build and maintain estimates (preferred)
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Participate in bid strategy discussions and value-engineering exercises
• Ensure estimates align with company margin targets and risk tolerance
• Track bid submissions, revisions, and outcomes (awarded vs. lost)
• Support project handoff to operations upon award
• Maintain strong working relationships with general contractors, owners, and industry partners
• Stay current on California codes, labor considerations, and market pricing trends

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in commercial roofing estimating (or closely related construction estimating)
• Strong understanding of commercial roofing systems (TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, metal, coatings, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating workflows
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience using Edge Estimating software
• Existing relationships within the California commercial construction market
• Resides in California
• Experience estimating projects in California jurisdictions
• Familiarity with prevailing wage, union, and non-union labor environments
• Experience working with general contractors on negotiated and hard-bid projects
