Software Engineer (Frontend)

København, Hovedstaden, Denmark

At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious goal: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together.

40% of all food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet, with 10% of greenhouse gas emissions coming from food waste.

We’re more than an app: we are a certified B Corporation with a mission to empower everyone to take action against food waste, so alongside our marketplace app, we create educational tools, explore new business solutions - such as our Retail Technologies offering, and influence legislation to help reduce food waste.

We’re growing fast: Our community of 133 million registered users and 261,000 active partners across 20 countries, have together already prevented 517+million meals from going to waste - avoiding over 1.397.000 tonnes of CO2e!

The Role

We are looking for a Frontend Software Engineer to be a part of our Checkout Collection Team. As a team member you will work towards specific outcomes with the freedom and responsibility to figure out the best way to achieve them together with the other Engineers and other Product Team members.

You will be involved in all parts of the process when refining, designing, implementing, delivering and maintaining product features.

Your task will be to develop, build and deliver an international top-class product, ensuring quality, maintainability, and sustainability, supported by more experienced colleagues who will guide, train and encourage you to push limits, and improve. We want to be proud of our work and focus more on quality than deadlines.

Tasks can both involve improving tools to help our colleagues in the rest of the company work more efficiently, and building new features and flows in our Partner-facing web portal.

The Tech Stack

We work on two main frontend web applications, one internal-facing and one external-facing. Both are built as single-page React applications using TypeScript, RTK Query, MUI and React Router, localized into multiple languages. Developers typically run the SPAs locally with Vite, connecting to backend endpoints hosted on our remote test environments, ensuring a fast and modern developer experience.

We are currently transitioning from MUI to our own in-house design system. As part of this role, you will contribute to the development and adoption of the design system. To support this transition, we are actively exploring AI-assisted UI development to streamline the path from Figma designs to implementation. By combining our design system with modern AI tooling, we aim to reduce repetitive work, improve consistency, and accelerate feature delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to our responsive partner-facing web application ‘MyStore’, including implementing high-quality visual elements that partners see and interact with.
  • Improve the internal web tool used by our colleagues in Sales, Customer service, etc on a daily basis, including helping out other product teams building admin user interfaces required for the projects they're working on, and providing tools allowing our colleagues to work faster and more efficiently
  • Actively participate in the team’s agile development processes with a continuous improvement mindset to deliver international top-class products with maximum quality, maintainability and scalability.
  • Maintain and improve the tech stack, code style and automated test setup.
  • Collaborate with the frontend developers on other product teams.
  • Take on additional tasks outside your current boundaries with help from your team to continue to grow and expand your skills.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has previous experience in front-end development.
  • Has a record of proven success in creating responsive/mobile user interfaces, with strong visual communication.
  • Is competent using JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and CSS.
  • Is fluent in TypeScript.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the core React principles (state, props, context, hooks).
  • Has experience with state management solutions like Redux.
  • Has experience with data fetching and caching libraries (such as RTK Query).
  • Is familiar with code versioning tools (such as Git).
  • Enjoys actively participating in a cross-functional product team.
  • Takes pride in writing quality code.
  • Is curious about AI-assisted development and openness to adopting new tools and workflows that enhance productivity and software quality.

Our values

  • We win together: Food waste is a big beast to fight. We believe in #oneteam.
  • We raise the bar: We always push for more. We work smart, smash barriers and elevate one another.
  • We keep it simple: Our ambitions are bold but our solutions are simple.
  • We build a legacy: We’re proud of the change we’re driving.

What We Have To Offer

  • An opportunity to work in a global social-impact company and certified B Corporation where you can see a real and tangible impact in your role.
  • To be an integral member of our defined product teams. We are eager for you to make an impact and contribute to the product scope and development; Your insights are valuable, and we are here to listen.
  • Work-life balance is important to us! Focus on the job to be done, not the hours spent, there is no need for overtime. On-call duty is not part of the job, but can be additionally agreed upon should you and your manager both wish it. We believe that happy environments create happy employees.

  • To be part of an international company, with over 1,300+ colleagues across 19 countries that are on the same important mission.
  • An informal environment, working alongside 190+ passionate people within Tech & Product
