Meet The Team:  
The Cloud Automation Team is responsible for Torc’s global AWS organization. We develop automation systems to manage security, networking, user guardrails, and scaled access to cloud systems and services. Our team values collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence while maintaining a supportive environment focused on growth and learning. 
 
Most teams at Torc leverage services in the cloud, and we need experts in deploying and running automation to manage foundational services in the cloud to help those teams on their journey. We maintain a large, global AWS Organization and associated Network and Security services. We are tasked with the operational activities of supporting that Organization as well as facilitating access for teams across the company. Additionally, we run the foundational automation and infrastructure services for our large GitHub organization.  
 
What You’ll do:  
We are looking for a cloud engineer with experience in large-scale infrastructure automation and a background in cloud and traditional networking concepts. You’ll focus on network infrastructure and automation while collaborating closely with our senior network engineer and contributing to broader cloud automation activities. 
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code for cloud automation across various AWS services. 
  • Apply networking expertise to design and implement secure, scalable network architectures and strategies based on varied workloads. 
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues including VPC peering, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and hybrid connectivity. 
  • Serve as a network specialist on the team, collaborating with our senior network engineer on critical infrastructure decisions. 
  • Support and improve CI/CD pipelines, GitHub automation, and infrastructure services. 
  • Contribute to cloud account vending machine operations and organizational controls.  
  • Support SIEM integrations, security monitoring, and compliance initiatives. 
  • Supporting shared infrastructure, such as EC2, ECS, or Kubernetes environments 
  • Collaborate with teams specializing in perception, planning, control, mapping, and vehicle testing to develop solutions that support their development efforts in AWS. 
  • Collaborate with Corporate IT on hybrid connectivity requirements and troubleshooting. 
  • Document architectures, runbooks, and best practices for the team. 
Here is a list of some of the technologies you will use to make all the above happen: 
  • AWS cloud services: Specialized and restricted VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, WAF, Security Groups, NACLs, etc.  
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation 
  • Automation: Python, Bash, AWS Lambda, Custom APIs and Services 
  • Version Control & CI/CD: GitHub, GitHub Actions 
  • Monitoring: CloudWatch, Datadog, etc. 
What You’ll Need to Succeed:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or engineering equivalent with 6+ years of professional experience or a Master's Degree with 3+ years of professional experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure As Code frameworks, preferably in AWS. 
  • Strong foundation in networking concepts: TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, DNS, load balancing, etc. 
  • Experience with custom tool and API development in a modern programming language – preferably Python.
  • Proficiency with Linux, shell scripting and automation, scaled automation techniques, and CI/CD / GitOps-based management. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues systematically. 
  • Clear communication skills, a sense of urgency, and a collaborative mindset. 
  • Growth mindset with enthusiasm for learning new technologies and domains. 
  • Commitment to documentation and knowledge sharing. 
Bonus Points!  
  • AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps, or Networking) 
  • Deep networking experience or certifications.
  • Container orchestration experience (ECS, Kubernetes). 
  • Security automation or compliance framework experience. 
  • Experience with large-scale environments. 
  • Background in both on-premise and cloud environments.

Hiring Range for Job Opening 

US Pay Range

$160,800 - $193,000 USD
