We are seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Leadership Team and lead the financial strategy that will propel us through Commercialization and long- term growth. Meet the Team:
You will join a high-performing Finance & Accounting team at the center of our financial stewardship—collaborating to deliver accurate reporting, strategic insights, and compliant operations that support the company’s growth.
What You'll Do:
As our CFO, you will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, the Board and the ELT, owning the financial and accounting architecture of the company. You will lead:
- Strategic Leadership & Financial Stewardship
- Shape and execute the enterprise financial strategy aligned to our path to commercialization.
- Provide clear, data-driven insights that inform decision-making and resource allocation across the company.
- Lead and develop a high-performing organization capable of supporting rapid growth.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and long-range modeling across an R&D-heavy, capital-intensive environment.
- Build scalable financial systems, processes and tools that support transition from development to commercial operations.
- Accounting, Audit & Compliance
- Oversee accounting, audit, tax, treasury, and internal controls across US and Canadian operations.
- Investor Relations & Corporate Development
- Support efforts like capital raise, debt management, and partnership creation.
- Communicate commercial strategy, milestones and associated financial outlook to varied audiences from investors to potential investors and other relevant stakeholders.
- Operational & Business Enablement
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Operations and Technology to model unit economics, lead the cost of commercialization, pricing frameworks, and customer scaling.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
We are looking for a leader who combines financial mastery with strategic vision, and influence. The ideal candidate has:
- 15+ years of experience in finance leadership roles; at least 5 years at the executive level.
- Demonstrated experience supporting a company through its path to commercialization—from R&D and prototyping through validation, launch readiness, and early revenue operations.
- Background in autonomous systems, robotics, advanced mobility, SaaS, deep-tech, or other complex engineering environments is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing large-scale R&D budgets ($250M+) and translating engineering milestones into financial impacts.
- Proven capital markets, investor relations, and fundraising expertise.
- Experience leading in pre-revenue or early-commercialization environments.
- Strong understanding of multi-state U.S. and Canadian financial and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and strategic modeling skills.

- Experience working with High Growth or Technology companies, and/or companies that have recently IPO'ed
- Experience with Workday Financials
- Licensed CPA
- Public Accounting Experience
Work Location: Preference is for our CFO to be within 50 miles from one of our Torc office locations (Ann Arbor, MI; Blacksburg, VA; Dallas Fort-Worth, TX; or Montreal, Canada). For the ideal candidate, we are open to Remote based in central or eastern time zones.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Torc's total compensation package will also include our corporate bonus and stock option plan. Dependent on the position offered, sign-on payments, relocation, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.

US Pay Range: $409,100 - $490,900 USD
