As the Fleet Service Manager at TORC, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the comprehensive fleet maintenance operations at one of our assigned TORC locations. This position requires a strong focus on safety, adherence to TORC's maintenance standards, and compliance with Federal and State regulations. Your responsibilities will span a wide range of tasks, including inspections, documentation, coordination with external vendors, communication with stakeholders, and continuous improvement activities.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee the update of asset locations (Site) based on the truck rotation report.
- Maintain accurate records of trucks (Parent asset) and update sensor replacement relationships with parent assets.
- Review and manage work orders and work requests, assigning them to technicians or engineers while collaborating closely with Site ops and truck schedules.
- Lead, schedule, and supervise field and depot technicians responsible for maintenance and repair of autonomous trucks and trailers.
- Monitor technician performance, safety compliance, and quality metrics; provide coaching, training, and performance feedback
- Review fleet maintenance functions and generate various operational and maintenance reports.
- Ensure compliance with all TORC safety rules, policies, and procedures, and promote the use of safe work methods
- Conduct inspections and documentations of component installations, maintenance, and repairs as needed.
- Coordinate with external vendors for fleet repairs and planned maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.
- Perform quality inspections/audits on trucks, trailers, and maintenance and documentation records.
- Track driver inspection reports using Motive ELD and the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
- Monitor preventative maintenance schedules and forecast required services.
- Creating a motivating and inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
- Monitor team performance and report on metrics for management recognition.
- Clarify metrics and measurable goals to identify work, clarify urgency and importance, follow-up and verify solutions/results, measure success, review for continuous improvement and effective time management.
- Identify, assign time and resources to work tasks/projects that need to be redefined, deferred, and/or shifted to another employee for balanced workloads.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Experience in a leadership role within an automotive service center or dealership. How many years?
- In-depth knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures. How many years
- Experience in managing financial aspects of a Fleet service department, such as labor costs, and parts
inventory.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with team members, and vendors.
- Up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to automotive service and repair.
- Experience implementing and ensuring compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Proficient in using Fleet Management System Software and other relevant tools.
- Travel: Some travel to our Torc offices outside of Fort Worth, TX. As well as potential travel to our DTNA Partner Locations. Percent of travel?
- Valid US Driver’s license with a safe driving record required.
- May travel occasionally to other states. May also have the opportunity for international travel requiring the ability to obtain a passport and appropriate documents.
- Comply with Torc’s policy regarding the use of alcohol and drugs if operating a vehicle, which includes pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing.
- Requires appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in areas identified through hazard assessment.
- Requires continuous technical education and training with a passion for knowledge in the field of study to maintain the highest level of knowledge, ingenuity, and creative thinking.
- Ability to work occasionally inclement weather/temperature extremes.
- Ability to be flexible on short notice and may work extended hours/weekends/evenings when project demands.
- Ability to work and collaborate across locations over different time zones.
