Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Accounting

Meet the Team:
The Senior Manager Financial Reporting & Accounting serves as financial reporting and accounting manager responsible for all aspects of the financial (and Securities and Exchange Commission, when applicable) reporting. This role will oversee technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards. Supports and assists with the implementation, maintenance and review of internal controls and corporate policies and procedures, while driving operational excellence and establishing a culture of continuous improvement and inspection in our processes and key business initiatives. Partners with business process owners responsible for the execution of controls over financial reporting primarily to support Management of SOX 404 and 302 compliance certification, control self-assessments, and external financial reporting risk management. Serves as a valued business partner and resource for the Company’s SOX Compliance Program, Legal Department Compliance Team, and Internal and External Auditors as well as Senior Management.
What You'll Do:
- Monitor the differences between the US GAAP and IFRS accounting frameworks and communicate that information to the accounting team as needed.
- Monitor the development and applicability of current and emerging accounting and reporting rules and regulations by various governing bodies/regulators.
- Ensure proper accounting under US GAAP and IFRS frameworks.
- Monitor efficiency and effectiveness of accounting controls, procedures, and software programs, referring irregularities or non-compliance to the Controller.
- Perform technical accounting research as required, including new accounting pronouncements, and write related position papers.
- Serve as subject matter expert for accounting and reporting for equity compensation and leases.
- Manage and guide the team to set, track, and achieve goals aligned with companywide vision, goals, and initiatives.
- Ensure continuous team goal setting, career pathing and professional development, tracking competencies, employee team building and training, performance management, work prioritization, resource management and controlling expenses, and reinforce systems, policies, and procedures.
- Trains staff, maintains training records, ensures appropriate and continuous training. Proactive change and conflict management in support of Torc’s core values.
- Identify future growth plan to support organizational needs and partner with People Operations and Talent Acquisition to lead organizational development; includes recruiting, screening, interviewing, selection, hiring and onboarding processes. Recommends promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations. Manages any problems and concerns to closure.
- Follows standard work processes and the Internal Controls System and assists in testing or self-assessments (as assigned) as part of the internal control process.
- Oversee the identification of intercompany eliminations and preparation of consolidated financial statements.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, under both US GAAP and IFRS, including applicable disclosures, management discussion and analysis, as needed, and related supporting documentation.
- Serve as subject matter expert for multi-currency matters.
- Ensure sufficient system configurations are in place and maintained for effective consolidation within Workday.
- Design and maintain conversion tools to report results to parent company as required.
- Oversee the preparation of necessary SEC periodic filings when applicable.
- Liaison with finance department, internal legal counsel, and external independent auditors.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
What you’ll need to Succeed:
- Bachelor Accounting, Audit, Finance or related program
- Professional certification or designation of CPA, required
- 6+ years of progressive professional experience in accounting, with specific emphasis on SEC reporting
- 3+ years of experience managing an accounting team, in the area of financial reporting.
- Public accounting experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, COSO, PCAOB Auditing Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley, risk and controls
- standards, business process best practices, and financial reporting requirements.
- Ability to diagnose process design gaps or transactional activities and consult with process owners to
- recommend solutions aligned with the business.
- Ability to effectively collaborate and manage internal business partners and external partners (external auditors, outsourcing partners, control owners) who assist with financial reporting and accounting compliance.
- Critical/logical thinking to identify problems and provide solutions to ensure efficiency and safety
- Strong time management and organizational skills to plan, develop, coordinate resources, prioritize effectively, and maintain competing demands simultaneously with frequent interruptions and in a fast-paced environment.
