Autonomous Technician

As an Autonomous Technician, you will support the integration and maintenance of Torc’s self-driving software with our test vehicles. Providing direct test support, reviewing logs and maintenance histories, referencing manufacturers manuals and specifications, inspections, diagnosing and repairing parts and problems, and supporting engineers to analyze and solve complex problems.
What you’ll do:
- Works as a team member with engineers, technicians, and field personnel on tests or R&D projects.
- Reviewing logs and maintenance histories, referencing manufacturers manuals and specifications, and
- other information to analyze, diagnose and repair parts, compatibility issues, and problems.
- Inspecting and documenting component installations, maintenance, repairs and replacements.
- Provide time and parts estimates as needed, understanding safety and sense of urgency for vehicle turnaround. Ensuring each vehicle is operable and safe in conjunction with the Operational Safety Engineer.
- Maintain Torc’s test vehicles
- Maximize availability of BCB test vehicles for software integration testing
- Ensure necessary base vehicle service is performed
- Perform calibrations, and other AD kit maintenance as needed
- Troubleshoot, track, and resolve AD kit component reliability issues
- Coordinate sensor replacement, RMA’s, and repairs
- Assist with vehicle readiness by fueling etc.
- Perform AD kit updates as needed
- Install new sensors and/or hardware (may require some small-scale fabrication)
- Deploy software as needed prior to test execution
- Support tracking of vehicle usage and availability metrics
- Support system integration testing as a Test Conductor
- Assist managers and procurement specialists to ensure adequate parts, fluids, materials, and supplies
- inventory levels are maintained at site and equipment locations.
- Maintain a secure, safe, clean, and healthy work environment.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Experience with automotive or heavy machinery service and repair, including complex electrical systems Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose vehicle or machinery problems and use general shop, automotive, and diagnostic tools.
- Efficient use of a computer to create and respond appropriately to communications, and record observations and assist with data collection or troubleshooting
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations for compliance including OSHA and other shop safety practices.
- Energetic and self-motivated with the ability to work in a cooperative, rapidly changing team setting with
- aggressive goals and challenging timelines.
- Demonstrates technical aptitude and consistent high-quality workmanship, and takes pride in work
- maintaining standards.
- Able to follow process with attention to detail, ensuring consistency in execution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to build trust and strong relationships, effectively create reports and relate data, and communicate to a diverse workforce.
- Ability to communicate clearly about technical subjects to multiple audiences
- Strong time management and organizational skills to plan, develop, and maintain programs and initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to ethically handle sensitive and confidential information with impartiality and professionalism.
