Our Operations Team is seeking an on-site Senior Purchasing Agent. You would be responsible for facilitating, communicating, negotiating, and executing industry best practices in the best interest of the company through the supply chain including internal and external customers, and suppliers. The Senior Purchasing Agent is responsible for executing company policy, processes and procedures to ensure all statutory and regulatory compliance. You would also be responsible for the development of strategic sourcing partners in alignment with the needs of programs, projects, engineering, finance, marketing and quality assurance in support of the organizational strategic goals including supplier sourcing, supplier negotiations and supplier management. The essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage specialized commodities like RF antennas, Radio battery packs and ruggedized custom cables.
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
  • Monitor market trends, competitors, strategies, and market suppliers.
  • Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
  • Negotiate contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Explore alternate sources for goods and materials.
  • Assess and perform cost analysis from current and potential suppliers.
  • Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organizational targets and requirements.
  • Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers.
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Develop relationships with team members built on trust and respect.

 

Education and work experience requirements are:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s strongly preferred) in Supply Chain, Business or related subject(s), OR commensurate experience.
  • APICS (CPIM) and/or NAPM (CPM) certification preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in procurement within the electronics, defense or aerospace industry.
  • Proven experience with Supplier performance tracking to include Supplier KPIs.
  • Experience with supply chain management, purchasing, production planning and inventory control.
  • Experience using ERP systems to manage procurement plans, activities and actions.
  • Experience supporting multiple internal & external customers.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, with competing deadlines.
  • Experience working in a cross functional matrixed environment, where responsibilities are layered throughout the organization.
  • Experience translating large amounts of data & analytics into insightful findings.

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Power Point, with extensive Excel skills preferred.
  • Previous experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably in an electronics OEM environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to department employees, customers, suppliers and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and potentially complex written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in both standardized and non-standardized situations.

TrellisWare Technologies pays competitively according to the market in an individual's geographic location, in addition to their qualifications and experience. The posted range is annually and for individuals located in the San Diego, CA area.

$95,000 - $135,000 USD
