About the job
This position is needed to craft and deliver a vision for Twilio’s operational integrations with our Messaging Data Platform.
Twilio is looking for a Product Manager to join the Messaging Data Platform product team of our Communications business unit. This is a relatively early career role managing the internal foundational APIs, data persistence, and eventing platform that powers Twilio messaging. The job skews technical, and an engineer with an interest in transitioning to product for a high-scale, high-reliability technical platform would be well suited for success. As the customers of this platform product are internal, your stakeholders are privy to all the technical details and only a Slack message away, allowing for genuinely agile collaborative product discovery and development. Working side by side with other product managers and engineering counterparts, you will collaborate to craft and deliver on the vision, strategy, and roadmap for messaging data at Twilio.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Be the voice of internal engineering customers in every conversation and decision, ensuring we build a world class platform that Twilio’s teams and customers can rely on.
- Shape the product strategy, roadmap, and release cadence for a major part of Twilio’s Messaging product.
- Work across Twilio to evolve a common internal domain model for messaging.
- Get your hands dirty, align executives, convince peers, and coordinate dependencies to get-it-done.
Qualifications
Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!
Required:
- Experience building or integrating with APIs and eventing platforms.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Interest in and ability to understand distributed systems architectures and speak directly with engineers about technical tradeoffs and decisions.
- Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
Desired:
- Experience working in an agile development process with globally-distributed teams and customers, occasionally working non-standard hours.
- Ability to influence and build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Familiarity with schema evolution and Apache Avro.
Location
This role will be based in our Tallinn, Estonia office or remotely in Estonia.
Travel
We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, approximately 5% travel is anticipated to help you connect in-person in a meaningful way.
