Account Manager, DNA Synthesis - S Korea

APAC - Remote

The Account Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth for synthetic biology and life science reagent products in Korea. This role is highly customer-facing and requires frequent engagement with academic researchers, biotech companies, and pharmaceutical organizations.

The primary focus of this position is field-based sales activities, including customer meetings, scientific discussions, opportunity development, and relationship management. The Account Manager will work closely with internal technical teams and channel partners to deliver a strong customer experience and expand business opportunities in the Korean market.

 
Key Responsibilities

Customer-Facing Sales Activities

  • Spend the majority of time on customer-facing sales activities, including in-person meetings, lab visits, and scientific discussions with researchers.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with principal investigators (PI), researchers, and R&D leaders in academia, biotech, and pharmaceutical companies.

  • Identify customer needs and propose appropriate solutions using synthetic biology products and services.

  • Manage customer interactions across the full sales cycle, including opportunity development, quotation, order follow-up, and post-sales support.

Revenue Growth & Territory Management

  • Achieve assigned quarterly and annual revenue targets.

  • Develop and execute territory plans to expand business in the Korean market.

  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and deliver accurate sales forecasts.

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within existing and new accounts.

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities within the synthetic biology and life science research markets.
  • Provide market insights and customer feedback to internal teams.
  • Support the introduction of new products and solutions based on customer needs.

Collaboration & Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with technical support teams (FAS / application scientists) to support customer discussions when needed.

  • Collaborate with operations and internal teams to ensure smooth order processing and customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and opportunities in CRM systems.

  • Represent the company at scientific conferences, academic meetings, and industry events.
  • Support local marketing activities, including seminars, workshops, and customer engagement programs.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in life science sales, preferably in reagents, genomics, or synthetic biology products.

  • Experience selling to academic institutions, biotech companies, or pharmaceutical organizations in Korea.

  • Experience in customer-facing field sales roles is strongly preferred.

Technical Background

  • Basic understanding of molecular biology, genomics, or synthetic biology workflows.

  • Ability to communicate scientific concepts effectively with researchers.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related life science field.

Key Competencies

  • Strong customer relationship management skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities

  • Ability to identify customer needs and translate them into commercial opportunities

  • Strong organizational and territory management skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a field-based role

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling gene synthesis, NGS, antibodies, or synthetic biology related products

  • Experience managing key academic or biotech accounts in Korea

  • Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce

  • Good English communication skills are preferred
