Overview of Opportunity
Two Six Technologies is actively seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join our Trusted Electronics and Effects team. The team is composed of intellectual individuals, passionate about embedded systems security and operational capability development. The team is growing and looking for someone with a cybersecurity research background who has an understanding of how to integrate multiple technology solutions such as software, hardware, and networking to develop products and new capabilities derived from technical concepts. What you will do
- Perform research engineering development and design work to integrate software and hardware solutions for our embedded systems team, specifically supporting security research and operational capability development.
- Gather relevant data and hardware samples to analyze and test research concepts, working to refine experimental code into deployable capabilities for our customers.
- Operate under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment to create optimal and innovative solutions for complex technical problems involving specialized devices and embedded architectures.
What you will need (basic qualifications)
- 2 – 5 years of experience in a similar research or engineering role, with a demonstrated track record of success in completing job-specific tasks and learning new technical methods.
- Proven experience in R&D for embedded systems and devices, including exposure to integrated development environments (IDEs), debuggers, and hardware-software interface analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain automated scrapers or data collection tools and apply graph data science using relational ontologies.
Nice to have (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with firmware reverse-engineering and hardware-level exploitation techniques using specialized diagnostic and monitoring tools.
- Professional-level reading or speaking proficiency inone or more top 5 spoken foreign languages such as Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, or Modern Standard Arabic to support global research efforts.
- Experience briefing senior leadership on novel Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) related to technical operations or foreign disinformation.
- Deep analytical knowledge of security and foreign policies in key international regions to provide context to technical research findings.
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science, International Relations, or a related field, with relevant coursework or experience in Malware Analysis, Reverse Engineering, and Cyber Operations preferred.
Security Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.
