About the Role
Uber Freight is looking for an experienced transportation and logistics professional to support day-to-day shipment execution and provide exceptional service to our customers. In this role, you will manage transportation activities throughout the shipment lifecycle, including load planning, freight coverage, carrier coordination, expedited shipments, and exception management.
You will leverage Uber Freight’s Transportation Management System (TMS) and other operational tools to ensure shipments are executed accurately, efficiently, and on time while identifying opportunities to improve service and reduce costs.

This position will work onsite with the customer at the Rural Hall, NC. location.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Utilize the Transportation Management System (TMS) to manage and execute the full lifecycle of customer shipments.
  • Build, coordinate, and secure coverage for expedited shipments, partnering with carriers and internal teams to meet time-sensitive customer needs.
  • Exceed customer expectations for on-time pickup and delivery by proactively monitoring shipments and addressing potential service disruptions.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with carriers to support reliable transportation execution.
  • Provide effective and timely freight coverage and carrier selection through routing guides and spot-market solutions, including rate negotiation when needed.
  • Leverage TMS to effectively route and consolidate orders while considering cost, service requirements, transit time, and transportation mode.
  • Monitor shipment activity and resolve shipment data errors and operational exceptions.
  • Proactively analyze transportation activity to identify potential service failures and take action to prevent or minimize disruptions.
  • Identify, recommend, and support cost-saving and service-improvement opportunities aligned with the customer’s transportation strategy.
  • Maintain professional, accurate, and timely communication with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify trends and patterns in shipper, receiver, and carrier performance and recommend actions for improvement.
  • Research and resolve carrier invoice discrepancies within TMS financials.
  • Train new customer and vendor users on the TMS while demonstrating an understanding of customer business practices, processes, and workflows.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve transportation challenges and ensure customer service expectations are consistently met.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or a related operational environment.
  • 1+ years of experience working with Uber Freight’s Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic understanding of business intelligence and Tableau reporting.
  • Experience coordinating expedited or time-sensitive shipments.
  • Experience working directly with carriers, including freight coverage, carrier selection, and rate negotiation.
