About the Role: A Senior Software Engineer, DevOps is responsible for designing, building, and operating the cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform capabilities that power Unite Us products. This role partners closely with engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable systems while driving improvements in infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, security, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, thrives in ambiguous environments, and serves as a technical leader through mentorship, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do:
- Architect and implement scalable, secure cloud infrastructure solutions that align with industry best practices, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to ensure repeatable, scalable, and auditable infrastructure deployments.
- Drive improvements to CI/CD pipelines, observability platforms, and infrastructure automation across engineering.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize cloud infrastructure, networking, performance, availability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Define and improve service reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident response, root cause analysis, and capacity planning.
- Champion DevSecOps practices by implementing security controls, vulnerability management, secrets management, infrastructure hardening, and least-privilege access principles.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and platform issues using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Identify, prioritize, and lead remediation of systemic infrastructure challenges and technical debt.
- Support engineering teams through enablement initiatives, day-to-day operational requests, and incident response.
- Create and maintain documentation, playbooks, and technical resources that promote consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance in cloud technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, security, and DevOps practices.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align platform strategy, architecture, security, and operational goals.
- Establish and promote DevOps standards, security best practices, and operational excellence across the organization.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and support production incident response and resolution.
You’re a great fit for this role if:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps-focused roles.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-native infrastructure and automation solutions.
- Proven success driving infrastructure standardization, platform improvements, tool consolidation, and technical debt reduction.
- Experience implementing security best practices including IAM, network security, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure hardening.
- Experience operating and supporting highly available production systems in cloud environments.
- Experience with incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership across cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with command-line tools, Linux-based systems, and source control platforms such as Git.
- Experience developing and maintaining scripts and automation solutions using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with the following technologies, with deep expertise in one or more:
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience preferred.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:
- This position is remote, U.S. based.
- The target pay range for this role is: $140,000-$175,000. This salary range represents our target hiring range for this role. The proposed salary will be dependent on the candidate's skills, experience, and competencies, as well as location.
