Job Summary

UNREAL is on the hunt for a passionate, high-energy, self-motivated team player who is looking to impact the Midwest Region! The Regional Sales Manager, Midwest will be directly responsible for the management and development of MW Food accounts such as Meijer, Fresh Thyme, and Schnucks. Additionally, they will be a hybrid of a Regional HQ Account Manager and our feet on the street being indirectly responsible for the further growth of our distribution in UNREAL’s National Mass, Club, and AFH accounts. They will also manage a network of brokers and distributors to drive volume, build revenues, and increase market share. 

The Regional Sales Manager, Midwest will be a vital member of the UNREAL Commercial team and report directly into the Senior Director, Food. This geography will include 10+ states and require 25-30% travel. Candidates must be located within the Midwest region, with a preference for candidates local to Chicago, IL, Grand Rapids, MI, or Milwaukee, WI. 

What You'll Do

  • Develop a business plan and sales strategy for the Midwest region to ensure attainment of company sales goals and objectives and gain new points of distribution 
  • Strategic Account Management: own sales targets across assigned accounts, including selling new products to customers, account business planning, and execution of business portfolio strategies
  • Build relationships with the retailers, broker, distributor, and category managers to ensure top-notch execution and sustained growth
  • Execute annual business plans and track to achieve or exceed net sales targets
  • Create promotional budgets and activities for the region by distributor and/or account - setting promotional planners and sales & spend goals for each of the assigned distributors and/or broker partners 
  • Manages administrative projects – sales forecasting, trade planning, verification of deductions, data analysis
  • Create and execute creative and effective merchandising programs for top accounts
  • Initiate and coordinate development of action plans to penetrate new retailers and markets
  • Excels at analyzing data and distributor reports to highlight voids, opportunities & risks, consistently and skillfully using data & insights to support their sell story
  • Work with the Commercialization team to identify and building selling stores tailored to specific customer needs  
  • Assist customers in resolution of complaints
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed
  • Uses designated field tools for every store visit (e.g. Repsly app, etc.) to document activities and ensure consistency.
  • Work hand in hand with the broader UNREAL team to make recommendations for proper and effective merchandising such as shelf management positions, rack, display, POS placements, and necessary collateral.
  • Represents UNREAL at food shows, distributor & food service events, and other industry events - executes demos as need to drive sales and new placements

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in food or beverage, bonus if from the snacking category
  • Understanding of the U.S. grocery retail markets; a plus if has existing relationships with natural chains
  • Strong planning and customer management skills to manage multiple customers in multiple categories simultaneously, with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with utilizing and analyzing syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, SPINS, etc.) and applying it to accurate forecasting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience in managing distributors, brokers and/or direct sales team
  • Proven track record in a retail environment
  • Thorough and ongoing knowledge of current sales and business development concepts and practices
  • Demonstrated ability working with key software applications, such as Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle

The base compensation range for this position is between $80,000 - $100,000 annually. This position is also eligible for a 15% bonus. The salary range listed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Individual compensation is determined by additional factors, including role-related experience and relevant education and certifications.

*Please note - employees must be employed by 10/31/24 to be eligible for 2024 bonus.
