The Product team at Upwork is a passionate group of builders, strategists, and problem-solvers focused on transforming how people connect and work. This team drives some of Upwork’s most important growth opportunities, particularly in building AI-powered experiences that streamline workflows and empower millions of users.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead our AI Workflows and Project Assistant efforts. In this highly cross-functional role, you’ll define the strategy and drive execution for intelligent, in-platform tools that help freelancers and clients align faster, stay organized, and manage complex projects with ease. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, design, research, and data teams to deliver intuitive and trustworthy AI features.
Responsibilities

Define and own the roadmap for AI-powered workflows and project assistant capabilities with measurable business outcomes

Collaborate with engineering, design, research, and analytics teams to ship impactful features at a fast pace

Translate ambiguous opportunities into well-scoped product initiatives with clear priorities and milestones

Leverage customer insights, user behavior data, and market dynamics to shape high-quality solutions

Manage product development in Jira and Confluence, ensuring execution aligns with goals and timelines

Partner with platform and AI/ML teams to ensure scalable, responsible AI integration into the product

Measure feature success through experiments and key metrics, and iterate quickly based on findings
What it takes to catch our eye

3–5 years of product management experience in a fast-paced tech, SaaS, or platform environment

Hands-on experience building or integrating AI or workflow automation into live products

Comfort driving execution and coordination using Jira, QA processes, and agile practices

Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams

A resourceful, builder’s mindset with a passion for creating user-first experiences from 0→1 and beyond

The annual base salary range for this position is displayed below. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.
Annual Base Compensation
$151,500 - $215,500 USD
