Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking an Online Programming Intern to join our high-performance team in San Diego, CA for Summer 2026. Our ideal candidate is hardworking, curious, and passionate about building online experiences.
At PlayStation Studios, you’ll contribute to the development and improvement of online systems and tools for the MLB® The Show product line. After learning the current online architecture, you’ll help add new features, extend server-side systems, and implement tools that enhance the player experience. Your work will directly support the next generation of The Show.
What You’ll Do

Learn, maintain, and enhance existing online code, servers, and tools.

Collaborate with designers to turn creative ideas into functional online game features.

Contribute to the design of server-side systems that power multiplayer gameplay and community features.
What You’ll Gain

Practical experience with C, C++, C#, and at least one scripting language (Perl, Python, Ruby, PHP, etc).

The fundamentals of Internet communications and how they apply to online gaming.

Collaboration across engineering and design teams to bring new features to life.
What We’re Looking For
-
Current enrollment in an accredited university Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with graduation expected between December 2026 and Spring 2027.

Demonstrated game programming experience.

Strong knowledge of C and C++, with additional knowledge of C#.

Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Perl, Python, Ruby, PHP, etc).

Understanding of Internet communication standards and best practices.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to work as part of a team.
Pluses
-
Experience with distributed systems or asynchronous message passing architectures.

Familiarity with MySQL or other relational databases.

Knowledge of cryptography or TLS/SSL.

Interest in sports, athletics, or related hobbies.
Eligibility

Students with expected graduation between December 2026 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Advanced Degree - Master’s

Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
