About This Job

As a Maintenance Lead, you’ll support the management team in overseeing daily maintenance operations and teams while traveling between multiple vacation rental properties daily, performing general repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting issues like appliances, HVAC, plumbing, and wifi to ensure guests and owners have exceptional experiences. This role involves coordinating with third-party vendors, participating in on-call coverage for urgent issues, and maintaining company standards for guest satisfaction and efficiency. Compensation

  • $26.18 CAD / hour. Actual pay will vary based on a candidate's skill, experience, education and/or location.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist management with overseeing daily operations and workflow management to optimize team productivity and meet departmental objectives. Identify areas for improvement, and implement process enhancements to drive efficiency and quality outcomes.
  • Directly respond to guest issues regarding maintenance, as needed including appliance troubleshooting, cable/wifi troubleshooting, basic HVAC repair, light plumbing and other requests. 
  • Order, maintain, and replenish maintenance supplies and inventory.
  • Assist with scheduling and distribution of tickets.
  • Create a welcoming environment for our guests and owners by ensuring our homes are well maintained through preventative maintenance and regular inspections.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes open communication, innovation, and employee engagement. Address team conflicts constructively and in a timely manner as they arise. 
  • You’ll be called upon after normal business hours, on weekends, and on holidays
  • Respond to or delegate after-hours calls, as necessary.
  • Ensure maintenance staff follow through on assignments and give instructions regarding work methods and routines.
  • Support your team and model the behaviors and actions that you expect from your team with attention to detail, professionalism, productivity, and reliability.
  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with team members and management team.
  • Provide cross-coverage for your manager and Co-Lead(s) when necessary.
  • Meet with homeowners when needed and talk about possible repairs and upgrades.
  • Maintain hot tubs as needed; no experience necessary - we offer on-site training.
  • Collect and remove trash and debris.
  • Maintain required Maintenance metrics on efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned because every day is different in hospitality!

Skills + Qualifications

  • Experience working in hotel, hospitality, vacation or similar industry is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years of maintenance or basic property caretaker experience.
  • Working knowledge of basic appliance repair, electrical systems, plumbing repair, HVAC repair, painting, and carpentry skills
  • Prior experience in supervisory or management level position in a similar industry.
  • Tech-savvy with experience using various digital systems and applications and comfortable using mobile apps, tablets, and various software platforms.
  • This role involves frequent travel between worksites, so reliable personal transportation is essential.
  • Dependable and prepared. Showing up on time and ready to go is key to creating great stays for our guests and peace of mind for our homeowners.
  • Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Comfortable talking to people—online or in person—and being able to share information in a way that’s clear, thoughtful, and represents the company in a positive way always.
  • We’re in hospitality and our schedules can change based on guest and homeowner needs. Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. We require flexibility to support this.

Workplace Environment + Physical Requirements

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Availability to work Sunday through Saturday, early mornings and evenings as needed. 
  • Occasional need to perform housekeeping and/or inspection duties
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for an extended period of time
    • Reach overhead and below the waist 
    • Regularly push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds
    • Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds 
    • Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and twist 
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
