Chemotherapy Infusion Registered Nurse – PRN
About the Opportunity
Shaw Cancer Center is seeking a Chemotherapy Infusion Registered Nurse to provide high‑quality, patient‑centered nursing care in a specialized oncology environment. This role is responsible for administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, injectables, supportive care, and additional therapies for both cancer and non‑cancer indications, following all Shaw Cancer Center safety standards.
This is a PRN/Pool (as‑needed) position. Hours and shifts will vary based on department needs.
What You Will Do
- Perform hands‑on clinical nursing skills, including sterile port access, peripheral IV placement, therapeutic phlebotomy, central line care and maintenance, Foley catheter insertion, and subcutaneous/intramuscular medication administration.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patient conditions and care needs; collaborate with Shaw providers and the interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, patient‑centered care.
- Partner with infusion and pharmacy teams to plan and implement care for patients undergoing complex treatment regimens for cancer and non‑cancer diagnoses.
- Triage incoming patient requests and determine appropriate next steps.
- Provide patient education to support treatment plans, promote informed decision‑making, and encourage optimal wellness.
- Delegate care appropriately in accordance with Colorado statute.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with procedures while consistently adhering to patient safety guidelines.
- Coordinate care with other physician practices, Vail Health departments, and external partners to ensure seamless, high‑quality patient experiences.
- Deliver excellent service using Relationship‑Based Care principles, advocating for patient safety, preferences, and effective communication with patients and families.
- Role model Just Culture principles and uphold organizational values.
- Monitor patient responses to therapy and collaborate with Shaw providers to implement timely interventions when clinical conditions change.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and perform additional duties as assigned.

What You Will Need
Experience
- 1 year of clinical nursing experience (required)
- 6 months of chemotherapy administration experience (required)
- 2 years of oncology experience (preferred)
Licenses
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado or from a valid compact state (required)
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association (preferred)
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Certification – Oncology Nursing (preferred)
Computer / Typing Skills
- Must possess, or obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning modules, access policies and forms, and complete benefits enrollment.
- Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Education
- Minimum of an Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.
Hourly Pay:
$37.90 - $60.45 USD
