The Digital Marketing Analyst understands the fundamentals of behavioral analytics platforms, marketing analytics tools, tag management systems, and data-driven marketing strategies. This individual contributor role combines technical expertise with client-facing consulting to deliver impactful behavioral analytics solutions. The analyst is part of a broader behavioral analytics team dedicated to helping our client organizations extract valuable insights from their data.  

In this role, the analyst will work with other members of the Behavioral Analytics team to understand clients’ comprehensive digital marketing and product analytics needs and deliver actionable insights that inform decision-making for digital initiatives. Additionally, the analyst will join cross-functional teams staffed according to the needs of the specific project (e.g., a website re-design, ongoing website/analytics support, or a new analytics platform implementation), and work collaboratively to design and implement behavioral analytics solutions to provide tracking and reporting aligned with client goals and objectives.  

Responsibilities: 

Digital Marketing and Product Analytics Expertise 

  • Gather requirements for analytics solutions by consulting directly with clients to understand business goals and marketing needs. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align digital goals of a project with a client’s business goals and develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to gauge the success of digital goals. 
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including solution design documents, event tracking plans, and engineering specifications. 
  • Implement, configure, and optimize marketing and product analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and Amplitude. 
  • Implement, configure, and optimize Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) such as Segment, RudderStack, and mParticle. 
  • Ensure accurate data tracking via methods such as inspecting the data layer and validating HTTP requests. 
  • Develop dashboards and reports that deliver clear, data-driven insights to stakeholders. 
  • Interpret behavioral data and analyze patterns (such as navigation paths, referral sources, and high-performing content or pages) to deliver actionable insights for enhancing user engagement and meeting business objectives. 
  • Define customer segments using behavioral data and propose tailored strategies for each segment. 

Cross-Team Collaboration 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including web developers, marketing specialists, and data teams, to meet analytics requirements. 
  • Partner with clients and internal teams to align analytics strategies with product and feature launches, driving successful outcomes. 
  • Engage proactively with teams across the organization to enhance operational effectiveness and promote a positive, collaborative culture. 

Project Delivery 

  • Ask thoughtful and insightful questions to better understand client requirements and objectives. 
  • Identify and investigate root causes of reporting issues, ensuring quality assurance for all analytics deliverables. 
  • Manage and deliver smaller analytics projects on time, within scope, and within budget. 
  • Analyze data to generate actionable recommendations and present findings to stakeholders clearly and effectively. 
  • Prioritize scalability, maintainability, and reliability in analytics implementations. 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Web Technologies Knowledge: Strong understanding of web technologies (e.g., Document Object Model, HTTP request lifecycle, APIs) and ability to use tools such as Postman and browser developer tools to support implementation, troubleshooting, and analysis. 
  • Programming Knowledge: Understanding of how to approach problems programmatically and dynamically. Familiarity with writing and understanding basic JavaScript/TypeScript (e.g., manipulating objects, arrays, and strings) and RegEx patterns for tagging and analytics configurations. Familiarity with SQL is a plus. 
  • Analytics Platform Expertise: Hands-on experience with using an event-based analytics platform (such as Google Analytics 4, Heap, Amplitude, etc.). Implementation experience preferred. 
  • Tag Management Expertise: Hands-on experience with using a tag management system (such as Google Tag Manager, Tealium iQ). Implementation and/or management experience preferred. 
  • Data Reporting and Visualization: Hands-on experience in creating advanced, tailored dashboards and static reports to provide actionable behavioral insights for stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis: Skilled at exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, deviations, and relationships within datasets, and effectively answer client queries. 
  • Curiosity and Adaptability: Eager to explore new techniques and apply existing skills to address novel challenges and meet project needs. 
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Consistent and dependable in fostering collaboration, alignment, and effective teamwork across cross-functional groups. 
  • Effective Communication: Skilled at delivering clear, concise, audience-specific communication that ensures understanding and active listening.

Compensation Range: $85,000 - $100,000 annually

Please note that compensation packages are finalized after the interview process is concluded. We use a competency-based approach to base pay, which means it is based on the competencies and skills demonstrated for this role.
