• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to all patients to ensure their comfort and well-being
• Perform a range of nursing duties, phlebotomy, intravenous catheter placements, basic treatments, and intermediate care procedures
• Knowledge of common diseases, physical assessments, and monitoring techniques to accurately triage incoming patients
• Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications, being mindful of potential side effects
• Set up, monitor, and manage IV fluid therapy, including constate rate infusions and blood transfusions
• Support for both outpatient and inpatient care, ensuring all patients receive the necessary attention
• Collect patient samples and conduct diagnostic tests, including in-house and point-of-care tests, as well as diagnostic imaging
• Sedating and monitoring patients for minor procedures as needed and requested by doctors
• Induce, monitor, and maintain patients under general anesthesia for major procedures and surgery
• Safely and effectively recover patients from sedated procedures or general anesthesia
• Communicate with doctors effectively regarding any patient or treatment concerns
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of normal vital sign ranges, such as heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation
• Measure and assess vital signs (including blood pressure), and inform the Veterinarian of any abnormalities or concerns
• Recognize patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR as needed
• Accurately calculate medical dosages, and administer medications using the correct routes and timing
