We are seeking a senior attorney to serve in the position of Director or Senior Director with a focus on responsibility for supporting the Company’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review and advise on issues involving the implementation of AI
  • Help to develop the company’s AI policies
  • Review, negotiate, and advise on agreements for AI services
  • Ability to draft, negotiate and advise on a variety of complex commercial agreements (e.g., inbound and outbound technology licenses, service agreements, and software and SaaS agreements), including but not limited to, those related to AI
  • Advise on contract interpretation and risk, policies and regulations related to Verisign’s business, including but not limited to, those related to AI
  • Understand and advise on applicable U.S. and international laws and regulations
  • Ensure members of the Law Department are apprised of material developments and matters in your areas of responsibility on a timely basis
  • Operate in a collaborative manner

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • J.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited law school
  • 12+ years of legal experience, preferably with experience in an in-house legal role in a technology/internet field; familiarity with the domain name industry a plus
  • Experience working on AI transactions
  • Must have strong contract drafting skills with expertise in technology and software licensing
  • Experience advising senior executives
  • Well-honed analytical and project management skills with the ability to run multi-faceted projects
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team of attorneys and work cross-functionally
  • Experience advising on intellectual property issues pertaining to software licensing and international laws
  • Must be admitted to the Virginia bar or eligible for admission as a Virginia Corporate Counsel

This position is based in Reston, Virginia.

The pay range for Director – Legal is $199,100 - $269,300.

The pay range for Sr Director and Senior Corporate Counsel is $228,900 - $309,700.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above for each title, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
