The Platform Manager plays a key role in managing Verisign's Domain Name System (DNS) registries.  This position participates in strategic direction for DNS registries by leveraging an understanding of functional requirements as defined by ICANN contractual requirements, registry and registrar stakeholder communities, ICANN consensus policies and other customer requirements. This role partners with the internal Technology Services Group, develops business requirements, translates them into functional specifications for the organization and further manages these changes to such specifications. Your responsibilities include educating cross-functional teams to meet the contractual requirements of the highly visible and critical DNS registry.  The position requires the ability to balance technical improvements and maintenance with business and policy items to properly prioritize the items for DNS registry roadmap. The position requires gathering metrics and reporting to senior management about the general health of the system.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages DNS registries’ activity with technical architects, product development engineering, engineering operations, global policy, legal, customer support and other cross functional stakeholders to ensure that the product solution delivers against diverse cross-organization business requirements.
  • Develops and manages the vision for Verisign’s DNS registries and leads the technical teams to prioritize items for the development roadmap and product life cycle from planning to development to launch. Aligns and prioritizes DNS registries initiatives to correlate with Verisign corporate goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifies, specifies and prioritizes critical features and capabilities through direct input with customers and knowledge of competitive positioning in DNS registry operations across all business sectors. Builds and strengthens interdependent collaboration to deliver improvements
  • Develops and maintain a deep understanding of DNS registry operations in order to implement tracking and analytics to ensure the portfolio of DNS registries exceed service level agreement requirements.
  • Works cross-organizationally in an operational role with customer support, legal, compliance, product engineering and other functional areas to ensure these stakeholder groups are aware of ongoing operational challenges and prepared for upcoming platform changes.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience, is required
  • 8+ years of relevant product experience
  • Deep technical understanding of DNS registry architectures and supporting systems, ongoing policy development within the ICANN community and registrar operations
  • Extensive experience in an agile scrum environment (preferably played the role of a product owner, Scrum Master or engineering lead)
  • Knowledge of business, product, and technical knowledge with proven ability to kick-start new projects and see them through to successful product adoption
  • Industry knowledge; trends, current and historical events, understanding of long term regulatory, competitive products, competitor positioning in marketplace

This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule

The pay range is $123,500 - $167,100. 

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
