
Hardware/Software Asset Management Analyst III

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Hardware (HW) / Software (SW) Asset Management Analyst III to join our Technology Asset Management (TAM) team. This role is responsible for daily management and control of the HW and SW portfolio to optimize the value and reduce cost and risk to Verisign. This position tracks, maintains, coordinates licenses, ensures maintenance agreements are in place, manages renewals and facilitates TAM procurements. The Analyst III develops reports exhibiting license entitlements, installations, usage, renewals, procurement status and data gaps while researching and developing standardized processes.
This position works closely with subject matter experts to obtain critical information required for managing assets in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This role drives decisions regarding licensing models and terms that have a direct impact on IT infrastructure. The analyst also provides a documentation framework to support the creation and ongoing maintenance of TAM standards, procedures, and informational documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Asset Management Program
- Performs technology asset management program activities, including managing HW and SW assets, optimizing their value while minimizing risk to the company (operational, compliance, support, maintenance, financial).
- Performs ongoing analysis of asset data, processes and work streams to identify trends, risks and areas of improvement.
- Effectively manages inquiries about usage, deployment, license availability, warranty and external vendor license audit report requests in a timely manner.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Conducts periodic quality assurance audits in accordance with organizational policies, identifying discrepancies in the CMDB and resolving/escalating them as appropriate.
- Works with leadership to raise awareness of TAM policies and processes across the organization through communication and education of stakeholders.
- Monitors and provides usage reports to communicate and monitor compliance and budget data.
Lifecycle Management and Renewals
- Performs HW and SW renewal and new purchasing processes ensuring licensing, support and maintenance is in place.
- Ensures adherence to licensing agreements, avoid lapses in coverage and reduce risks associated with audits.
- Works closely with vendors, business owners, and internal teams as negotiation of licensing agreements and procurement terms are conducted.
- Optimizes SW licensing and HW support to reduce unnecessary costs.
- Submits, tracks, manages and processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
- Validates and processes invoices to ensure payments are justified in line with contractual commitments and are paid or cancelled on time.
- Maintains the CMDB to include input, update, and connection of data for HW, SW and license keys in relation to requisition, procurement, deployment, maintenance and retirement of the agreement.
- Captures records relating to the issuing of license keys or certificates.
Optimization and Compliance
- Responsible for reviewing and updating current documented procedures.
- Identifies process optimization and efficiency opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of experience in IT Asset Management, Procurement, or IT Operations
- Strong understanding of software licensing models (Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, etc.)
- Experience with IT asset management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera)
- Proficiency in tracking HW assets and managing warranty agreements
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, stakeholders, and IT teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of ITIL best practices
- IT Asset Management (IAITAM) certification (e.g., CAMP, CSAM)
- Experience with cloud software licensing (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
- Experience with contract management and vendor relationship management
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.
The pay range is $89,900 - $121,700.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
