We are growing and excited to welcome two experienced, highly skilled Registered Veterinary Technicians to our Emergency & Critical Care department. This is an exceptional opportunity to work with Board Certified Surgeons, Internists, Criticalists, and Emergency Clinicians, as well as a dedicated team of talented RVTs and veterinary assistants.
In this role, you’ll not only advance your ECC skills, but also have the chance to cross train in Internal Medicine and Surgery, expanding your expertise and career potential.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform all essential duties of a Registered Veterinary Technician.
- Work in triage and ICU, providing high quality nursing care to critical patients.
- Accurately monitor and document patient vital signs, trends, and clinical changes.
- Support diagnostic, surgical, and intensive nursing care needs across departments.
- Perform anesthetic monitoring—from routine to emergent and high acuity cases.
- Collect and prepare diagnostic samples, including:
- Venipuncture, arterial blood gases, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling, blood typing, slide agglutination, and crossmatching
- Perform advanced ECC procedures such as:
- Central/PICC line management, nasal oxygen cannula placement, blood transfusion administration, CRI calculations and management
- Provide compassionate, professional client communication.
- Represent AVSG/VSSOC with exceptional courtesy, compassion, and professionalism.
Job Requirements
- Active California RVT/VTS License (or ability to transfer from out of state)
- 5+ years of experience as an RVT
- 3+ years of ER/Critical Care experience preferred
- Experience with critical and ASA III+ patients
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs (and assist with team lifts for larger patients)
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Experience training RVTs/VAs is a plus
Compensation
- $33.00 – $45.00/hr, depending on experience and whether you hold an RVT and/or VTS license
- Shift differentials
- $4.00/hr for swing shift
- $6.00/hr for overnight
- $8.00/hr for weekends
Schedule Options
- Day and overnight shifts available
- Choose between:
- Three 12 hour shifts
- Four 10 hour shifts
- Rotating weekdays and weekends
