Registered Veterinary Technician – Medical Oncology & Radiation Anesthesia (50/50 Role)

Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician for a specialized hybrid position with an approximately 50/50 split between medical oncology support and anesthesia monitoring for radiation oncology procedures. This role is ideal for an RVT who enjoys longitudinal oncology case involvement and focused anesthetic monitoring in a radiation oncology setting.

Schedule

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
  • 7:30am – 5:30pm

Salary

  • $24.00 – $29.00 per hour, based on experience

Role Responsibilities

Medical Oncology Responsibilities (≈50%)

  • Assist with medical oncology consultations and case management
  • Chemotherapy preparation and administration in accordance with established protocols
  • Monitor patients for chemotherapy‑related adverse effects and communicate concerns to the clinician team
  • Coordinate oncology recheck and follow‑up appointments
  • Provide client education regarding chemotherapy treatments, side effects, and at‑home care
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure chemotherapy safety compliance

Anesthesia Responsibilities – Radiation Oncology Focused (≈50%)

  • Anesthetic monitoring exclusively for patients undergoing radiation therapy using the linear accelerator (LINAC)
  • Prepare patients for repeat, short‑duration anesthetic events
  • Continuous monitoring of anesthetized patients (ECG, blood pressure, SpO₂, ETCO₂)
  • Support patient safety and physiologic stability throughout radiation treatments
  • Work closely with the radiation oncology team to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent daily treatments

This position does not include general surgical anesthesia; anesthetic responsibilities are limited to monitoring patients during radiation oncology procedures.


Ideal Candidate

  • Registered Veterinary Technician license in good standing
  • Strong interest in medical oncology and chemotherapy patient care
  • Comfortable with repeated anesthetic events and advanced anesthetic monitoring
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and confident in client communication
  • Enjoys collaboration within a multidisciplinary specialty team
