About the Role 

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to lead Verkada’s Product legal function. You will be Verkada’s top product lawyer and overall responsible for advising the business on how to mitigate legal risk related Verkada’s product offerings, and for ensuring Verkada’s compliance with worldwide hardware and software product regulations and laws. You will report to Verkada’s General Counsel and advise Verkada’s leadership team on product-related issues. You will be part of company leadership and help shape the direction of the business. We need someone who can hit the ground running and lead the function and team as they continue to build it. We are an “in the office” company and this role is based in our headquarters in San Mateo, CA.

What You’ll Be Expected To Do

  • Build and lead Verkada’s product counseling function and team
  • Be the lead legal partner for the product, engineering, marketing, and other business teams, advising them on all legal aspects related Verkada’s product offerings, including their  development, launch, marking, sale, and compliance with worldwide regulations and laws
  • Advise company leadership about Verkada’s product offerings and provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies across multiple jurisdictions at once
  • Serve as Verkada’s subject matter legal expert on all product-related issues
  • Monitor new and emerging developments in applicable worldwide regulations and laws, and identify potential impacts on current and future Verkada product offerings

What You’ll Need

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school or equivalent 
  • 10+ years of legal experience focused on hardware and software legal issues (preferably with at least 4 years of in house experience)
  • Expertise in the evolving landscape of product regulations (especially with respect to hardware compliance), with experience spotting emerging trends and new issues
  • Experience advising multinational, complex fast-growing global companies, preferably with respect to both hardware and software product offerings
  • Experience developing, and implementing compliance programs and policies for hardware and software products

Pay Disclosure

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate’s skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

$260,000 - $400,000 USD
