Position Summary
The Quality Inspector role is responsible for performing inspection to all products and ensure they meet the quality standards per customer requirements before they are delivered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Approves incoming or outgoing metal materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
- Performs inspection of purchased parts, materials, components, and equipment as materials are received from operators, vendors, or subcontractors.
- Examine plans, engineering documents, part lists, drawings, etc. to determine product parameters.
- Verify first article inspection and/or in-process inspection samples to the full requirements of drawings.
- Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and scrap; inputs data into quality database.
- Assist in determining methods, sequences, and procedures necessary for inspection.
- Utilizes inspection measuring devices where necessary.
- Tag inspected/approved items and disburse to correct location.
- Prepare appropriate paperwork for returned & rejected parts.
- Execute 100% inspection of various received parts on a daily basis.
- Daily reporting on inspection findings and results.
- Examining and measuring parts to confirm dimensional compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
- Identify, report, and create any non-conforming parts or discrepancies in measurements.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- 2+years college preferred; combination of education and work experience may be equivalent.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have 3+ years aerospace manufacturing metal experience.
- 2+ years manufacturing quality control inspection experience; CQI designation a plus.
- 1-2 years experience with Faro Arm or Leica
- Experience with inspection tools: pins & block gauge, micrometers, height gauge, optic comparator, and calipers
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. These skills are important for measuring, calibrating, and calculating specifications.
- Ability to visually inspect, verify and review material, equipment, tools, operational areas, and documentation to the established standards.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply contractual requirements, standards, specifications, governmental regulations, or technical procedures.
- Able to communicate effectively and clearly through verbal and written means.
- Have a positive attitude when working with internal and external customers in the workplace.
- Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with quality and customer standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation, or government law.
- Experience with Quality audits and major audits such as - ISO9001/AS9100.
- A strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and AS9102 inspection report
- Training in Lean or Six Sigma and a track record of success using that training to drive improvements and/or enhance quality preferred; Six Sigma belt status is a plus.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems and an understanding of how the system works.
- Ability to read customer specifications, blueprints, mylars, job travelers.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables in work situations.
- Ability to analyzing information, reporting results, promoting process improvement suggestions.
- Able to successfully work in a changing environment.
- Ability to work in fast paced production environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Excellent documentation and record-keeping abilities.
- Basic computer skills; knowledge of MS Office.
- Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn.
Pay Transparency
The salary information is a general guideline only. A wide range of factors are considered when extending an offer, such as job-related knowledge and skills, qualifications, education/training, key skills as well as market and business considerations. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
California pay range
$25 - $35 USD
