Role Summary
Welcome to Via Logic, where you will be joining a dynamic team known for its collaborative spirit and innovative approach to solving complex challenges. We are currently seeking a Remote Cloud Platform and Data Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for a full-time position to assume a pivotal role in supporting our federal government client. This role is intended for a United States (U.S.) citizen with extensive expertise in architecting, deploying, and managing secure, scalable, and automated cloud solutions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in transforming our clients' infrastructure to be more efficient, secure, and aligned with business objectives. This position places significant emphasis on the implementation of everything-as-code and DevSecOps best practices and cloud security.

As a client facing professional, your responsibilities will include collaborating with key stakeholders and leading secure cloud projects that align with client objectives and regulations. Your insights will play a crucial role in deploying and operationalizing capabilities for clients.

To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, meet public trust clearance requirements, and possess a proven track record of successful Agile project collaboration.

Key Requirement:

  • Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Public Trust U.S. citizenship is mandatory, as this work is for a federal government client. Candidates will need to successfully complete a Background Investigation (BI) and credit check prior to beginning work. Nothing in applicants’ history should prevent them from obtaining a public trust security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is someone who was born in the US or obtained citizenship through naturalization that the government will verify. The government has excluded non-citizen nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), refugees, or those on temporary visas.
  • MUST RESIDE in the U.S. and work MUST BE PERFORMED in the U.S.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • CI/CD Pipeline Architecture and Management: Design, manage, and optimize secure, automated CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based and hybrid environments, integrating security checks and compliance measures. Demonstrated proficiency in CI/CD automation, using tools like Jenkins and Gitlab to embed security, quality, and testing into pipelines.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Utilize containerization technologies to manage microservices and facilitate consistent deployment and scalability across environments.
  • Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Management: Build, deploy, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and data stores, to support scalable and resilient applications in both government and public-facing ecosystems. 
  • Production Optimization and Reliability: Ensure high availability and reliability of production systems in cloud environments. Oversee automated build processes, troubleshoot issues, and emphasize automation in operational tasks to reduce manual interventions.
  • Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Implement monitoring solutions to track system performance. Use logging and diagnostics to identify and address performance bottlenecks and ensure optimal resource utilization.
  • Everything as Code: Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure.
  • Security and Compliance: Assess, implement, and maintain security postures to meet or exceed federal and industry standards, including conducting regular security assessments and enforcing compliance protocols.
  • Agile and DevSecOps Collaboration: Participate and actively engage in agile teams, contributing to sprint deliverables and fostering continuous improvement in DevSecOps practices to streamline platform development and operations. Champion cross team and cross discipline engagements.
  • Automation Testing for Infrastructure: Develop automated tests for infrastructure and deployment scripts to ensure stability and security. Integrate these tests into the CI/CD pipeline for continuous validation.
  • System and Data Flow Analysis: Understand and manage information flow and ingestion processes, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. Analyzing integration points and anomalies to support root cause analysis.

Your Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Advanced Cloud DevSecOps Skills: Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and implementing solutions on AWS, including expertise in CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, and Chef for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies. Demonstrated proficiency in CI/CD automation, using tools like Jenkins and Gitlab to embed security, quality, and testing into pipelines. Advanced knowledge of AWS, including expertise in AWS EC2, ECS, EKS, and Lambda, Docker, Helm, Swagger, Redis, New Relic, Kubernetes and deploying applications, containerization, microservices, APIs, and databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle RDS, DynamoDB). 
  • Programming and System Optimization: Strong programming and scripting abilities in Java, Python, and Bash, focused on automating tasks and enhancing operational efficiency. Proven skills in optimizing solutions for performance and cost effectively to meet demands.
  • Data Proficiency: Skilled in data models and management using SQL and Python, with a thorough understanding of data structures, flows, and ETL processes. Experience in setting up analytic stores for data visualization tools such as R, Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Cloud Delivery and Security: Skilled in deploying cloud-native services and secure cloud networking, including TLS/SSL, encryption, and key management, with abilities to create microservices and data stores across multiple applications. Well-versed in compliance standards such as FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53, and SOC to enhance the privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance posture of cloud solutions.
  • Innovative Problem Solving and Product Management: A forward-thinking approach to problem-solving, constantly seeking process improvements and providing unique solutions to complex challenges. Exceptional project management capabilities, managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously with innovative approaches.
  • Dynamic Teamwork and Agile Practices: Strong teamwork and communication skills, understanding agile software engineering principles and best practices to foster effective collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Preferred: Preference for candidates with government sector experience, especially with DHS, and holding current public trust clearance.
