Database Administrator (DBA)

THE ROLE:

As a Database Administrator at Virtu, you will work with various database platforms and large datasets to architect data-centric solutions, becoming a key member of our global Database Services team managing a substantial database footprint. You will collaborate closely with application developers and support teams to design and implement scalable solutions for both real-time and historical data needs. Additionally, you'll help shape our global database strategy by contributing to governance and best practices, while developing a robust DBA coverage and escalation model to reduce the need for off-hours support.

WHAT YOU BRING WITH YOU:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong knowledge of open-source databases, particularly PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Shell Scripting, Python or Powershell.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL Server, Oracle, and/or MongoDB.
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, and GIT.
  • Operational knowledge of both Windows and Linux server administration.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated, with a desire to learn and grow.
  • Experience in financial services.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects across different time zones.
  • Flexibility for occasional off-hours and weekend work.
