POSITION OVERVIEW
The Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist Lead– Oversees planning, organization and supervises implementation of therapeutic programs individual and group interventions appropriate for residents’ treatment per rehab assessment process.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Documents of a child’s progress per rehab specialist assessed youth’s needs that are reflected in the treatment goals with appropriately identified treatment objectives that measure ongoing progress toward goals.
- Attends intake and discharge conferences, cottage meetings, Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings unit and department meetings and provides newly defined needs that identify new goals.
- Direct on-going assessing a child's therapeutic needs.
- Oversees documenting group and individual interventions in computer record system.
- Oversees daily therapeutic groups/individual sessions.
- Direct relationship-based/DBT-oriented, trauma informed and culturally sensitive interventions and manages therapeutic groups in the related milieu.
- Manage behavior management techniques (e. redirecting, counseling) during all groups.
- Oversee community resources for youth.
- Directs age-appropriate curricula to include individual and group instruction.
- Completes and submits on various department and agency forms (Timesheets in SAGE, Petty Cash Requests, etc.);
- Effectively communicates issues of concern specific to the department to their supervisor, as well as information pertinent to running the program.
- Maintains the required number of annually required professional training hours (40).
- Demonstrates an ability to understand the growth, development, and range of treatment needs for children and/or adolescents.
- Directs program staff to identify needs for special projects, therapeutic/recreational activities, and skills-based volunteers who offer special skills and training to support the Residential Program.
WHAT YOU BRING TO VDM
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 4 years of mental health experience; or a Master’s Degree plus 2 years of mental health experience and if applicable, eligible for certification or registration related to the degree earned.
SALARY - $69,000 to $72,000 /annually
