We’re committed to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment where every crew member feels valued. We see this as one of our greatest strengths - and your role is key to helping us build on it.
Your Role:
Vital Farms is strengthening our enterprise discipline around waste reduction, cost management, and continuous improvement. We are seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Waste Reduction to own and lead this work at an enterprise level, partnering closely with senior leaders across the organization.
This role sits within FP&A and serves as the strategic program owner for waste reduction initiatives across the value chain. Beyond building tools and processes, this leader will shape executive thinking, influence prioritization decisions, and embed waste reduction as a durable operating capability at Vital Farms.
Success in this role requires strong financial and analytical skills paired with exceptional influence, executive presence, and change leadership, as this individual will routinely engage SLT members and senior functional leaders without formal authority.
What You'll Do:
- Design and lead the enterprise waste reduction program, establishing the frameworks, playbooks, and processes that guide how Vital Farms identifies, tracks, and eliminates waste.
- Partner with FP&A and cross-functional leaders (Supply Chain, Operations, Farm Ops, Quality, Procurement, etc.) to prioritize initiatives tied to the savings target.
- Partner directly with SLT members and senior functional leaders to shape initiatives, challenge assumptions, and drive tradeoff decisions tied to savings, capacity, and investment.
- Lead executive-level discussions by synthesizing complex financial and operational data into crisp insights, recommendations, and decisions.
- Develop tools and dashboards to track waste, quantify savings, monitor project milestones, and support data-driven decision making.
- Drive adoption of waste reduction processes, coaching teams to build this new capability and ensuring consistent application across the business.
- Provide strong project management to keep initiatives on track; facilitating routines, removing obstacles, escalating risks, and ensuring accountability against timelines and deliverables.
- Conduct financial modeling and ROI analysis to validate benefits and help teams prioritize high impact opportunities.
- Lead reporting and communication cadences with FP&A, SLT, and functional leaders, translating complex data into clear insights and recommendations.
- Identify systemic trends and root causes through data, helping the business address the highest-value improvement areas.
- Ensure compliance with financial and operational controls as part of waste reduction activities.
- Champion a continuous improvement mindset across Vital Farms.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in finance, continuous improvement, operations finance, program management, or related roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional cost savings or waste reduction initiatives in a CPG or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and executives, driving alignment and outcomes without formal authority.
- Strong financial acumen, including ability to quantify benefits, model scenarios, and evaluate ROI.
- Proven success building scalable programs, tools, and routines from the ground up.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to keep multiple initiatives moving forward simultaneously. Project Management Certification considered a plus.
- Experience supporting or leading enterprise transformation initiatives preferred.
- Ability to travel 10-20% (including overnight) is required for meetings, company trainings, and events.
- You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
- You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
- You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
- You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
- You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.
- We recognize that talent comes in many forms. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. You may have strengths we haven’t yet considered!
What We Bring to the Table:
- A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
- Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
- Generous retirement contributions: 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
- Free eggs and butter (yes, really!), along with friends and family discounts.
- Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
- Professional development opportunities and an amazing team dedicated to your growth.
