We serve critical industries such as defense, aerospace, and automotive, playing a vital role in securing a safe, sustainable future. As a Magnetics Engineer on the Engineering team, you will provide expertise into magnetic material behavior, interactions of microstructure, composition, and morphology on magnetic properties, and be responsible for performance of the magnets developed. This is a full-time onsite role in Durham, NC.
Description
- Responsible for developing processes and compositions capable of required magnet performance and quality
- Lead R&D studies on next generation magnetic formulations and fundamental processing technology
- Contribute to process development of the entire magnet manufacturing process
- Lead studies into process windows, composition windows, and overall requirements for scaling production as it relates to magnetic performance
- Oversee internal magnetics characterization work and outside laboratory contracting to characterize resulting magnetic materials as required
- Contribute to the development of core equipment technology, including development of next generation process equipment
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Materials Engineering, Magnetics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering/science discipline
- Masters Degree in Materials Engineering, Magnetics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering/science discipline
- Experience with sintered neodymium, or similar, magnetic materials
- Proficient in materials & magnetics characterization tools
- Experience optimizing both manufacturing processes and material compositions to achieve desired outcomes
