Position Title: Senior Manager, Consultant Relations
Reporting to: Director of Strategic Alliances and Partnerships
Location: Chapel Hill, NC; Minneapolis, MN; Newton, MA; New York, NY
Compensation: Senior Manager, Consultant Relations ($130,000-$150,000), depending on qualifications, plus bonus potential and benefits
Position Summary: We are seeking a proactive, motivated Consultant Relations Associate reporting to the Director of Strategic Alliances and Partnerships, to drive the Consultant Relations strategy, optimize processes, help lead and execute meetings, and progress the development of the function across the company. This individual would work nationally across all consultant firms, ultimately helping to manage relationships across all regions, companies, and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner to inform the strategic design of the Consulting Relations function at Well
- Strategize and progress Well’s relationships with key leadership contacts in the consulting community to drive awareness, interest, and strong preference for Well
- Support market-facing meetings and intellectual capital, including working with the sales team to prepare for consultant meetings and responding to consultant-based RFIs
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional colleagues (e.g., in Marketing, Product Management, Client Success) to ensure our goals and roadmap are informed by needs and priorities expressed by consultants and employers
External responsibilities:
- Continue to build out the strategy (in partnership with the Director of Strategic Alliances) for the Consulting Relations function at Well, optimizing the scope, approach, and processes
- Serve as a point person for key large-market consultants at national firms like Aon, Mercer, and WTW
- Document, map, and cultivate key contacts and offices within each firm, supporting the Sale team in expanding local relationships
- Generate interest in Well by focusing on our differentiators, with the goal of identifying opportunities to be included in future RFPs and capabilities meetings
- Partner closely with cross-functional partners in Sales, Client Success and Marketing to ensure consistency of message across various touch points with these key constituents
- Identify and secure opportunities for Well to participate in firm-specific activities including but not limited to vendor management initiatives, vendor presentation venues, and client capability sessions
- Solicit feedback from consultants and gather intel on market trends, client needs, and product feedback
- Assist the Director of Strategic Alliances and Partnerships to pursue and explore opportunities for Well and consulting firms to partner on product distribution opportunities
Internal responsibilities:
- Progress and maintain the evolving Consulting Relations functional strategy, including vetting and socializing with key internal stakeholders and leadership
- Contribute to the development and management of the annual budget; help support the business case for the recommended Consultant Relations spend and outline the outcomes to be expected
- Help set appropriate priorities, and participate in recruiting to build out the growth team
- Work closely with Sales to share information from the consulting community and support the establishment of relationships in each region
- Collaborate with product marketing to inform and update consultant-facing pitch material
- Collaborate with Growth Operations colleagues to ensure reporting reflects the value and nature of consultant relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4-10 years’ experience in the benefits industry
- Experience collaborating with lead consultants and specialty practice teams at the key consulting firms
- Understanding of market expectations in the employee health and wellness benefits arena, including working knowledge of the overall processes for procuring services like Well
- Experience managing relationships in multi-year contract cycles
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Track record of team collaboration and success forging productive relationships within the healthcare consulting community
