About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Director of Creative Strategy to inspire and plan creator-first strategies for new business pitches and special projects across industry verticals.
You'll play a creative & strategic leadership role, consistently pushing creative boundaries for our clients and staying ahead in the continuously evolving landscape of social media, creative advertising, and effectiveness in the creator economy.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Develop creative, culturally relevant, and insight-driven pitch decks for creator-first strategy, rooted in compelling storytelling.
- Own and manage timelines for both your work and that of your creative, cultural, and creator strategy teammates on projects you are leading
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Client Business Lead, offering creative and strategic guidance on key accounts.
- Lead and create compelling, creator-led creative and social strategies, grounded in actionable insights.
- Support the Head of Creative Strategy on high-level, senior-client presentations and strategic initiatives.
- Input into evolving, elevating, and packaging Whalar’s ownable creative strategy capabilities and product offerings.
- Take the lead on internal presentations and client-facing POVs, including strategic foundations for workshops.
- Unpack client briefs to identify the true strategic objective and what’s needed to achieve it.
- Collaborate with Research & Insight and Client Services to identify and develop community and creator strategy.
- Lead productive and inspiring brainstorms and ideation sessions, both internally and with clients.
- Use measured campaign outcomes to inform, refine, and evolve future strategies and creative concepts.
- Stay ahead of social media trends, technologies, and platforms, and integrate these insights into both client work and proactive thought leadership.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Paid Media, Measurement & Analytics, Creative, Creator Strategy, and Client Services to ensure strategic vision is carried through to execution.
- Proactively identify upsell opportunities and enhance existing client relationships, in collaboration with the Creative Director and Head of Creative Strategy.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Must have direct experience developing creator campaigns/in the creator economy
- Minimum of 9 years experience in creative, social media, and content strategy, with 3+ years of experience in a senior role directly leading a team
- Fluency in social media platforms and their unique dynamics, including extensive knowledge of user behaviors and platform best practices
- Meticulous, culturally rooted creative thinker and practitioner with an eye for upcoming trends
- Detail oriented and strong project management skills
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable transforming sets of data into actionable insights
- Passion and experience in the creator economy and ecosystem and its evolving landscape
- Experienced at pitching, and confident when presenting to clients and team members

This hybrid role, based in New York, NY, offers flexibility and collaboration, allowing you to choose any three days a week to work from our vibrant office. Enjoy a collaborative environment with top-tier amenities fostering productivity and camaraderie.
The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $165,000 and serves as a general guideline reflecting the potential compensation for the role. The final salary offer will be determined based on a comprehensive evaluation of factors such as the candidate's experience, expertise, alignment with the position's requirements, and, ultimately, budget approvals
