Payroll Administrator/General Ledger Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk / General Ledger Accountant to support our accounting and finance operations. This position is responsible for accurate payroll processing, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial reporting support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and committed to accuracy and confidentiality.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Payroll Administration
    • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
    • Review timesheets, payroll deductions, benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
    • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  • General Ledger Accounting
    • Prepare and post journal entries.
    • Reconcile bank accounts, payroll accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
    • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
    • Maintain and analyze general ledger activity.
    • Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation.
  • Accounts & Financial Support
    • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
    • Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
    • Assist with special projects and continuous process improvements.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of payroll and accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of payroll laws and accounting principles.
  • Experience with accounting software and payroll systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Experience with construction, professional services, or project-based accounting environments a plus.

 

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
