Sr Sales Rep - Union & Labor Markets
Position Summary
This position is responsible for increasing plan membership with unions and labor organizations by professionally promoting Willamette Dental products, plans and treatment philosophy. The Sr. Sales Representative – Union & Labor Markets is responsible for originating, advancing, and closing complex insurance sales that meets or exceeds annual sales goals as well as promoting organic growth within existing group accounts. This position is designed for a seasoned sales professional with a proven ability to convert established relationships into executed agreements.
Essential Position Functions
- Define and follow a strategy for accounts defined as local, regional or national, and maintain an active database for all potential Willamette Dental accounts in territory while planning for and staying within a predetermined budget.
- Define and follow a strategy for all targeted unions, agents and administrators and maintain an active database in assigned territories of state, regional and national unions and administrators.
- Leverage an established network of union leaders, trustees, and decision-makers to generate immediate sales opportunities.
- Convert existing pipelines into closed business.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to union stakeholders by aligning Willamette Dental’s products with member needs and organizational goals.
- Consistently contact all defined union agents and administrators in territory, and input union/agent/administrator data, including appointments in customer relationship management (CRM) software. Document communication and calendared activities with unions/agents in CRM.
- Consistently visit all targeted union agents and administrators to review any changes/improvements at Willamette Dental, address and resolve any concerns/questions and constantly solicit business, and prepare reports, as needed documenting direct sales activities.
- Strategize for effective renewals, deliver and present group client renewals by contracted due dates.
- Demonstrate confidence in public speaking to small and large audiences in a professional manner, and present state approved CE presentations to clients as needed.
- Prepare, print and personally deliver, when necessary, all requested reports to specified accounts on a timely basis.
- Consistently meet and exceed aggressive revenue and growth targets.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related field, with ten years of large group health insurance sales experience required, preferably with union organizations, Taft-Harley plans OR equivalent combination of education and experience which will provide the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Must have a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle in Oregon and possess an acceptable driving record. Experience in healthcare or insurance field preferred.
Licenses
Must have a State insurance license in good standing in Oregon, Washington & Idaho, or must obtain the license within 60 days of hire.
Expected hiring range for this position depending on experience (annual salary):
$115,000 - $135,000 USD
Compensation
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
This position is also eligible for incentive pay in accordance with the terms of the Company’s plan.

Paid Time Off (PTO): Eligible employees will accrue a minimum of 120 PTO hours per employment year in addition to seven paid holidays annually. The Company’s PTO program combines vacation and sick leave, which is more generous than Washington State’s Sick Leave Law. Employees in part-time roles working less than 40 hours per week will accrue PTO on a pro-rated basis.
Physical Requirements
The work is primarily performed while sitting and/or standing, but will require occasional walking, bending, stooping and carrying light items such as papers, books, or other supplies. The incumbent uses a computer and other standard office equipment to complete tasks.
