Job Description

WorldStrides is seeking an experienced Integration Engineer to design, build, and support secure, scalable integrations across enterprise systems, third-party platforms, and internal applications. This role will be part of our technology team in Mérida, Mexico and will help improve how our systems connect, exchange data, and support business operations.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure Integration Services, Azure API Management, REST and SOAP APIs, message queues, pub/sub patterns, Azure DevOps, and Git. Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform is a plus, but not required.

In this role, the Integration Engineer will work closely with architects, product owners, analysts, developers, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable integration solutions. The right candidate will bring a strong engineering mindset, good communication skills, and the ability to build clean, maintainable, and secure integration workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support secure and scalable integrations across enterprise systems, third-party platforms, and internal applications.
  • Build and manage REST APIs using Azure API Management / APIM and related API lifecycle practices.
  • Develop and support message-based and event-driven integrations using queues, pub/sub patterns, asynchronous processing, and event streaming patterns.
  • Work hands-on with Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hub, Azure Web Apps, Azure SQL, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Develop REST and SOAP APIs using JSON, XML, and common data transformation patterns.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization patterns using OAuth 2.0, JWT, token-based authentication, certificates, mTLS, and related security standards.
  • Develop integration solutions, automation scripts, and internal tools using Python and Microsoft Azure services.
  • Follow integration best practices for API design, naming standards, error handling, retry logic, resiliency, monitoring, logging, alerting, and deployment.
  • Apply DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, automated deployments, and environment management.
  • Support release planning, technical dependencies, deployment coordination, and production readiness.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production integration environments using tools such as Dynatrace.
  • Partner with architects, product owners, business analysts, security teams, engineering teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, API specifications, integration diagrams, support guides, and runbooks.
  • Participate in Agile delivery activities, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, demos, retrospectives, and production support reviews.
  • Ensure integration solutions meet security, audit, compliance, performance, and reliability expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in integration technologies, API development, middleware, platform engineering, or software engineering with a strong focus on integrations.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Integration Services.
  • Experience with Azure API Management / APIM for API publishing, security, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Azure services such as Logic Apps, Function Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hub, Azure SQL, Web Apps, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and consuming REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Strong understanding of JSON, XML, data transformation, API contracts, and integration mapping.
  • Experience building and supporting message queues, pub/sub systems, and event-driven integration patterns.
  • Understanding of API security, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, token-based authentication, certificates, mTLS, and secure API communication.
  • Experience with Python development for integration solutions, automation, or internal tools.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting production systems, preferably using Dynatrace or similar observability tools.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments using tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform is a plus, including exposure to API Manager, Runtime Manager, DataWeave, or MuleSoft-based integration workflows.
  • Experience with streaming or event platforms such as Kafka.
  • Experience working in banking, financial services, insurance, group benefits, payroll, or another regulated environment.
  • Experience integrating CRM, ERP, financial, payroll, customer-facing, or operational platforms.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or similar.
  • Experience with centralized logging, alerting, dashboards, runbooks, and production support models.
  • Azure, MuleSoft, or security-related certifications are a plus.
  • Strong hands-on integration engineering skills.
  • Ability to design clean, scalable, secure, and maintainable integration solutions.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to understand complex systems and business processes.
  • Good understanding of API governance, DevOps, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Strong collaboration skills across product, architecture, engineering, security, and business teams.
  • Ownership mindset from design through production support.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile environment.
