The FP&A Senior Analyst - Planning and Cash Flow is a key role within the WPP Group FP&A team, providing critical financial insight and analysis that supports decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation. Reporting to the FP&A Director - Planning and Cash Flow, you will play an integral role in group planning, forecasting, cash flow management, and performance reporting.
This position offers exposure to senior leadership, including the CFO and CEO, and provides the opportunity to influence strategic decisions through robust financial modelling, insightful analysis, and high-quality management reporting. Working closely with finance teams across WPP, you will help drive planning excellence, enhance forecasting accuracy, and support the continuous evolution of our reporting and decision-support capabilities.
What you'll be doing:
Planning & Modelling
- Support the delivery of group-wide planning processes, including budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts, ensuring milestones and deadlines are achieved.
- Coordinate planning timetables, manage operating unit queries, and support the preparation of CFO and CEO review materials.
- Assist with long-term financial planning across both P&L and cash flow, developing and maintaining models that support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis, including support for M&A-related evaluations and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain and monitor risks and opportunities tracking, providing insight to support management decision-making.
- Promote best-practice financial planning and modelling techniques across the wider finance community.
Cash Flow
- Support the preparation of monthly Group cash flow reporting for management and Board reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with periodic cash flow, liquidity, net debt, capex, and free cash flow forecasting activities.
- Partner with Treasury, Tax, and Group Reporting teams to align assumptions, understand variances, and explain key performance drivers.
- Contribute to credit agency review activities alongside Treasury colleagues.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly management reporting, quarterly trading updates, and Board presentations that translate complex financial data into clear, concise insights.
- Support the production of Group financial statements and management reporting outputs.
- Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and validation of EPSP targets.
- Perform detailed variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Analyse large and complex datasets, ensuring data integrity while monitoring business performance against key metrics and targets.
Process Improvement
- Continuously enhance financial models, reporting processes, and analytical capabilities to improve efficiency, quality, and decision support.
- Leverage automation and AI-enabled tools to streamline workflows and drive innovation within the finance function.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree and ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, or an equivalent professional qualification (qualified or actively studying).
- Experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, Audit, or a combination of Big 4 and FP&A experience.
- Experience within a large global finance function would be advantageous.
- Advanced Excel modelling skills, with exposure to planning, consolidation, or reporting tools such as OneStream, SAP BFC, HFM, SAP BusinessObjects, or Power BI.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate insights effectively.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence presenting to senior audiences.
- Highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with a high level of integrity and accountability.
- Interest in emerging technologies, including AI, and a desire to build AI-enabled finance processes and ways of working.
