Middle Backend Engineer - Mobile

Wrike is seeking a Backend Developer with Kotlin experience to join a cross-functional mobile team working on a mobile app for collaborative project management. The role is focused on improving the backend services with Kotlin, contributing to the mobile app’s core logic, and enhancing the user experience for enterprise customers.
More about Your Team
Our mobile team includes iOS, Android, and backend engineers, QA specialists, a product manager, and designer, supported by UX researchers and writers. We aim to enhance the Wrike experience with mobile features that keep users productive on the go. The team is distributed across locations with Prague and India being the primary locations.
How do we work?
Our technology stack primarily relies on Kotlin for Android and Swift for iOS. We make use of Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform, with several features already successfully deployed in production. Additionally, our backend service for mobile (BFF) is built in Kotlin, serving as a middleware layer between the core backend system and the mobile application. We also incorporate extensive UI testing as a key component of our CI/CD pipeline.
How You’ll make an impact
- Work on Kotlin-based backend services for the mobile app
- Contribute to the core platform, including APIs, business logic, and optimizations for mobile
- Code reviews, peer reviews, and collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Ability to evolve the service and contribute innovative solutions for Kotlin
You will achieve your best if you have
- Minimum 3-5 years of SW development experience with Java, Spring, Mybatis, Postgres, Maven
- at least 1 year production experience with Kotlin is a must
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, SOLID principles and REST, with the ability to maintain simplicity in design
- Knowledge of SQL, REST and a commitment to continuous learning
- Good communication skills in English
