About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Barista Supervisor to lead our in-house coffee and food service operations. In this role, you'll oversee a team of baristas, ensure seamless daily operations, and deliver exceptional service that boosts employee morale and productivity. Drawing from xAI's collaborative culture, you'll manage workflows, train staff, and maintain high standards of quality and safety. This position requires a blend of barista expertise, leadership skills, and adaptability in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership and Supervision: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of baristas, delegating tasks, providing performance feedback, and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment. Conduct training sessions on coffee preparation, customer service, and safety protocols to ensure team excellence.
- Operational Oversight: Manage daily setup, maintenance, and breakdown of workstations, including espresso machines, brewers, and food prep areas. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, conducting regular audits and resolving issues promptly.
- Customer Service Excellence: Oversee the delivery of high-quality beverages and snacks to xAI employees, creating a welcoming atmosphere that enhances workplace satisfaction. Handle escalated customer inquiries and maintain accurate order fulfillment to support productivity.
- Inventory and Supply Management: Direct inventory tracking, ordering, and stocking of supplies, optimizing costs and ensuring availability without disruptions.
- Quality Control and Improvement: Monitor and improve service quality, implementing processes for efficiency (e.g., prep timelines, equipment upkeep). Identify opportunities for innovation, such as new menu items aligned with employee preferences.
- Administrative Duties: Assist with scheduling, reporting (e.g., using Microsoft Office tools), and collaborating with management on operational enhancements. Support overtime or weekend needs as required to align with xAI's dynamic schedule.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of customer service experience in food and beverage (preferably coffee-focused), with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role (e.g., shift lead or team supervisor).
- Ability to stand for 8+ hours, lift/carry up to 25 lbs., and perform frequent bending/stooping.
- Available for 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM), with flexibility for overtime or weekends as needed.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Proficiency with manual espresso machines and beverage preparation.
- Strong understanding of food safety/sanitation (CA food handler card required or willingness to obtain).
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook).
- Proven ability to multitask, resolve conflicts, and motivate teams in a fast-paced setting.
- Available to occasionally work evenings and weekends, as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
Compensation and Benefits
Pay range:
Level 1: $26.00/hour
Level 2: $28.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
