Program Director, AstraZeneca (AZ) Oncology Business Unit (OBU) Account Lead

This is a rare and truly exciting opportunity to lead one of Emota's most important partnerships.

As Emota's Program Director for AstraZeneca's Oncology Account, you'll sit at the centre of a complex, high-profile account. This account spans events, congresses, engagement programs, learning, content, and digital. It's a role with significant visibility, influence and scope, working with senior client partners whilst helping shape the future of a long-term strategic partnership.

What makes this role different is the balance between leadership and delivery.

This role is not about sitting above the detail. We need someone who wants to understand what's happening across the account, support teams when challenges arise and build the kind of client partnership that comes from delivering great work.

Reporting to the Head of Emota, You'll be the senior day-to-day lead for the relationship, but you'll also need to know what's happening across the portfolio. You'll identify where programs thrive, where pressure builds, what you need to provide to teams and where you might need to intervene.

One day you may collaborating with senior AstraZeneca partners on future priorities and opportunities. The next, you could be reviewing budgets, helping shape a scope of work, supporting a team through a delivery challenge or spending time on-site during a major event.

We're looking for someone who enjoys being close to the work. Someone who asks questions, spots issues early, joins the dots across teams and is prepared to get involved when needed.

In this role you will:

  • Lead one of the agency's most significant client partnerships
  • Build strong relationships with senior AstraZeneca partners
  • Maintain oversight of a large portfolio of programs and projects
  • Work closely with production, creative, strategy and operations teams
  • Identify risks early and helping teams solve challenges before they escalate
  • Support commercial forecasting and scope management
  • Create visibility across delivery, budgets and resources
  • Help teams navigate complex or high-pressure situations
  • Ensure clients receive consistently high-quality service and delivery

What we're looking for

We're looking for an exceptional and established Program Director who can blend their stakeholder relationship skills with a hands-on approach to deliver operational excellence, we're looking for someone who: 

  • Has successfully led large and complex agency accounts or programs
  • Understands both the commercial and operational realities of delivering great client work
  • Builds credibility quickly with senior stakeholders and delivery teams alike
  • Can move comfortably between strategic conversations and practical problem-solving
  • Brings people together, creates alignment and handles challenging conversations with confidence
  • Spots risks early and takes action before they become bigger issues
  • Enjoys being close to the work and supporting teams through delivery challenges
  • Makes thoughtful decisions and helps others navigate change, complexity and competing priorities.

This role will suit someone who enjoys being close to the work. You'll be given plenty of autonomy, significant client exposure and the opportunity to shape a partnership that is central to our business.
