Principal Scala Developer

You will be:
- designing, developing, and enhancing scalable backend services using Scala,
- leading performance optimization initiatives across large-scale applications and services,
- proactively investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues impacting system performance and user experience,
- collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and implement effective technical solutions,
- driving engineering best practices and contributing to the continuous improvement of the platform,
- supporting the onboarding and mentoring of other engineers by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
Your profile:
- significant commercial experience in Scala backend development, including experience operating at a Principal, Staff, or Lead Engineer level,
- strong background in performance tuning, scalability, and optimization of large-scale systems,
- proven ability to anticipate, analyze, and solve complex technical challenges,
- hands-on experience designing and developing high-quality backend applications,
- practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery,
- ability to make technical decisions and drive engineering excellence,
- curiosity and a proactive approach to investigating problems and identifying effective solutions,
- strong collaboration and communication skills,
- good command of English (min. B2).

Nice to have:

Experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work.
- Interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches.
