You will be:

designing, developing, and enhancing scalable backend services using Scala,
leading performance optimization initiatives across large-scale applications and services,
proactively investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues impacting system performance and user experience,
collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and implement effective technical solutions,
driving engineering best practices and contributing to the continuous improvement of the platform,
supporting the onboarding and mentoring of other engineers by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.

Your profile:

significant commercial experience in Scala backend development, including experience operating at a Principal, Staff, or Lead Engineer level,
strong background in performance tuning, scalability, and optimization of large-scale systems,
proven ability to anticipate, analyze, and solve complex technical challenges,
hands-on experience designing and developing high-quality backend applications,
practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery,
ability to make technical decisions and drive engineering excellence,
curiosity and a proactive approach to investigating problems and identifying effective solutions,
strong collaboration and communication skills,
good command of English (min. B2).
Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to have:

Experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work.
Interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches.
