About the Role:

XO Health Inc., an innovative startup health plan, is seeking a visionary leader to spearhead our data engineering strategy, driving the development and implementation of advanced data solutions to optimize our operations and deliver impactful insights for our business and customers.  XO Health is not your traditional health plan; we aim to put value-based care at the forefront of our plan designs by empowering providers to make evidence-based care decisions.

This position will oversee a team of data engineers, architects, and analysts that are building a robust data infrastructure while leveraging cutting-edge technologies to extract actionable intelligence from vast healthcare datasets and serve up data to various applications. This person will also play a fundamental role in laying the groundwork for the XO Health AI strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to efficiently capture, store, and process large volumes of healthcare data from diverse sources.
  • Lead the development and deployment of advanced analytics models, including machine learning and predictive modeling, to identify trends, predict risks, and optimize pricing, underwriting, and claims processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT, vendor and business teams across the organization to translate data insights into actionable business strategies, improving customer and provider experience and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of a world-class data platform that supports data science, analytics, product, and engineering needs across the company.
  • Champion and ensure the privacy and security of our customers' data.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to your teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Own Data Jira boards that include creating stories, assigning responsibility, and reporting progress.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure that all solutions adhere to industry standards, including HIPAA compliance and data security best practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Work with the Quality Engineering team to ensure that solutions are thoroughly tested and meet quality standards before deployment.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize system performance, identifying and addressing potential bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Innovation: Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities to leverage new solutions to improve our products and services.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture function.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of experience building big data systems handling at-scale data ingestion, processing, and/or storage in AWS Stack.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into a well-executed technical roadmap.
  • Experience with data science platforms, machine learning infrastructure, data governance, and/or managing regulated data is preferred.
  • Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to effectively translate complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
  • A willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and do whatever is necessary to ensure company success
  • Experience working in a rapidly evolving startup environment
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards and regulations such as HIPAA and FHIR.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and relevant certifications.

$175,000 - $200,000 USD
