Position Summary
Join our 2026 Yes Energy Internship Program and enjoy the opportunity to work on exciting projects to shape your career in Data Engineering. The intern position will help support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and systems that power our products and analytics. This role provides hands-on experience working with real-world data, production systems, and modern data engineering tools. As an intern in our Data Engineering team, you will gain exposure to modern data engineering tools and practices while supporting meaningful, real-world projects.

- Hourly Rate Range:
- $19.00/hr - 1st year Intern
- $20.00/hr - 2nd year Intern
- $21.00/hr - 3rd year Intern
- $22.00/hr - 4th year Intern
- Reports to: Data Engineer II
The intern will learn and be exposed to
- Hands-on experience working with production data systems
- Exposure to real-world data engineering workflows and tools
- Mentorship from experienced data engineers
- Opportunities to contribute to meaningful, high-impact data projects
Project Work
Your official project depends on what skills you have and what skills you are looking to develop. They could include the following:
- Developing or enhancing data pipelines for specific datasets
- Implementing data quality checks or monitoring processes
- Supporting data migrations
- Building internal tools or scripts to automate data processing tasks
- Presenting project outcomes and learnings to the data engineering team
Requirements
- Experience with SQL; familiarity with Python, Java, or another programming language
- Basic understanding of databases, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT concepts
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly
- Strong understanding of Google Suite for Business or MS Office
- Strong analytical, research and organizational skills
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
- Ability to prioritize based on opportunities and effectively multitask
- Detail oriented
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A strong desire to learn, grow, and explore new things
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building, monitoring, and maintaining data pipelines and workflows
- Support data ingestion, transformation, and storage processes
- Help troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline or data quality issues
- Write and optimize SQL queries to validate and analyze data
- Assist with documenting data pipelines, schemas, and system processes
- Support testing and validation for new data sources or system enhancements
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git)
- Interest in learning workflow orchestration tools and data pipelines
- Interest in large-scale data systems and infrastructure
