About the Role
You will sit at the intersection of Product, Engineering, DevRel, Sales, and Marketing, turning deeply technical product capabilities into clear positioning, compelling launches, credible proof points, and developer experiences that drive adoption.
You will own the technical product narrative: understanding our products at a deep level, understanding the competitive landscape just as deeply, and translating that knowledge into how You.com shows up everywhere from a product launch and benchmark to our website, documentation, demos, sales conversations, and developer community.
This role is for someone with exceptional product judgment and technical curiosity who can move comfortably between an API response, an eval, a product roadmap, and a launch narrative. You should be able to understand what we've built, challenge how we describe it, and make sophisticated technology feel obvious and important without oversimplifying it.
Responsibilities
Own positioning and messaging for You.com's developer products and APIs, translating technical capabilities into clear differentiation for developers and technical decision-makers
Develop a deep understanding of our Search, Contents, Research, Answer, and emerging API capabilities, including how they work, where they perform best, and how developers incorporate them into production AI systems
Lead go-to-market strategy for major product launches, working with Product and Engineering from early development through launch and adoption
Turn technical innovation into compelling developer narratives grounded in real-world problems, concrete use cases, benchmarks, demos, and proof
Own competitive intelligence across the AI search, retrieval, grounding, and agent infrastructure landscape, helping the company understand where we win, where we don't, and how the market is evolving
Build the technical evidence that supports our positioning, including benchmark narratives, competitive comparisons, architecture explainers, demos, use-case content, and evaluation frameworks
Partner closely with Product and Engineering to understand upcoming capabilities early and help shape how they are packaged, positioned, and brought to market
Partner with DevRel to turn product differentiation into demo applications, example workflows, integration guides, and other artifacts developers can use to evaluate You.com
Equip Sales and Partnerships with technically credible messaging, competitive intelligence, demos, and proof points for conversations with sophisticated technical buyers
Work with Marketing to ensure our website, campaigns, content, and launches accurately reflect the sophistication and differentiation of our technology
Develop messaging for different technical audiences and use cases, from individual AI engineers making their first API call to engineering leaders evaluating search infrastructure at production scale
Spend time directly with developers and customers to understand how they evaluate search infrastructure, where they encounter friction, what alternatives they consider, and what ultimately drives adoption
Instrument and analyze the developer journey from discovery through evaluation, activation, and production usage, using those insights to improve our product marketing strategy
Represent You.com externally through technical content, webinars, conferences, community conversations, and other opportunities where deep product expertise matters
Qualifications
Significant experience in technical product marketing, product management, developer relations, solutions engineering, engineering, or another deeply technical role
Strong understanding of APIs and modern AI application architecture, including concepts such as LLMs, agents, retrieval, grounding, RAG, inference, and evaluation
Experience marketing or building developer infrastructure, APIs, AI products, developer tools, data infrastructure, or similarly technical products
Demonstrated ability to understand technically complex products and translate them into differentiated positioning without losing technical credibility
Personally shipped technical artifacts such as benchmark analyses, technical launch posts, integration guides, architecture content, demos, or competitive evaluations
Strong understanding of how developers and technical buyers discover, evaluate, test, and ultimately adopt infrastructure products
Excellent writing and storytelling skills for technical audiences; able to make complex concepts clear without making them simplistic
Strong competitive instincts and an ability to quickly understand both technical and market differentiation
Comfortable working directly with engineers, reading technical documentation, using APIs, and getting hands-on with the products you market
Experience leading cross-functional product launches in close partnership with Product and Engineering
Data-driven approach to product marketing, with the ability to connect positioning and GTM activities to activation, usage, pipeline, and revenue
Experience in AI infrastructure, search, developer tools, or API-first companies strongly preferred
Technical degree or previous experience as an engineer, technical PM, DevRel engineer, solutions engineer, or similar role is a plus
